Re: First Race in Cayman S

Congrats.
The stock classes do not allow for brake cooling to be added, or improvements to the PS lines?

Yes, you can add brake cooling and also a cooler to the PS. We already have some ducting for the brakes but need to improve it, and are working on an intercooler for the PS.

The solution for me would be to have a brake bias valve to adjust during the race when the fronts get a lot more heat than the rears, but that is not allowed in stock (or best of all have a pair of big reds, but that's not allowed either).

Re: First Race in Cayman S

I have added NACA ducts for brakes, and it has made significant improvements and now the brakes are very consistent through 30-min DE sessions.
So, you think just some shielding may not be enough for the PS? I would like to add a oil cooler first before a PS cooler, and I am worried about space.
Best of luck, great start

I already have an underpulley that makes things easier on the PS pump, but it still gets too hot (engine never below 5200rpms in race conditions + 90F weather!).
The main problem we had is that the retaining clip for the main hose is a small plastic o-ring-type retainer that melts with the fluid. Lower PS fluid temp seems the only Stock-legal solution.

Best solution will be the electric power steering from the CupCar (No wonder why Porsche went this way with the Racecars!)

Cheers,
Thanks! That's exactly the type of solution we are going for. Has it worked for you so far? How much track time since?

Am I mistaken or is that a shift knob off a 993?

cup car electric pwr steering is illegal? that would solve the prob.

have you tried to run RS29 front and RS14 rear so you get more rear bias to reduce temp up front? just a thought.

congrats on win.

Works great. No leaks or fluid use. 20 track days and four races.

Cheers,

Those are the pads we are running. Anything with more bite up front and its early ABS mayhem in the big braking zones.

It works quite well for 6-7 laps, then you have to keep going deeper with the pedal and the rear begins to brake a lot more (and earlier).

Re: First Race in Cayman S

I know Mantis has a solution for brake cooling with some ducting they've worked out, you might contact them if you need more assistance. I'm one of those lucky people who have never had an issue with the factory power steering, I must have a titanium clamp or something...

Has anyone tried the titanium shims that RSS sells for heat reduction?

Re: First Race in Cayman S

Bias can be 'adjusted' by running Pagid Yellows up front, Blacks in the rear - IF allowed. Makes a significant difference, the rears will actually be 'working' at that point -

Proven solution.

Interesting looking rear spoiler. I haven't seen that one before. Looks nice.

Its the factory aero package. You can only use factory options in the stock class. Not sure ho much more real downforce is really adds but it has to be a bit more than the standard one
