TPC Turbo Cars Driving Techniques.

hi Guys, I have seen a few posts elsewhere about a few of us having to change our driving styles due to our new Turbo;s and setups. So think this would be better if we just start a new thread about it.

Here is what I found on the street.

" from other post : I have to relearn how to drive this car, all over again, it is completely a different feel.. all the power... So coming out of corners I have to wait till it is a straight before I put power down ( until I am much more used to it ). I did notice that now because the turbo is spooling hard still at high rpms, I have to use about 25% less gas pedal to hold the rmps where I want it. I found that if I had about the same amount of throttle I had before, the turbo will keep the power coming on past where I expected it to be. So some driver tweaking is needed :-) "

I will be taking the car to AX this weekend to see how well it does and to tweak the balance of the car, and will try to get to a DE soon as well.

Re: TPC Turbo Cars Driving Techniques.

I am very interested in this mod. Does the additional power lead to excessive wheel spin making it hard to get the power in out of the corner or is it more a matter of squeezing it on more gently. Does the power come on as a big boost or is it fairly linear, I could imagine if it was a big boost it could make it hard to control if it came on at the wrong time.

How did you rationalize the loss of warranty?

Thanks rick

Re: TPC Turbo Cars Driving Techniques.

hi, well the power comes on VERY smooth. If it did not gradually push you back in your seat at high RPMs you would not even know it is there. ( except you are going REALLY fast! )

I have not tracked it yet, but you will have to come on gas smoother.. I have yet to feel a big burst of power all at once like I have on the Asian import cars, where it almost breaks your neck.

As per the warranty, it really is all up to which place you go to. My guys are all racers, and Love modded cars, so only the parts I replaced are not covered anymore.

Re: TPC Turbo Cars Driving Techniques.

Thanks for starting this. I am going to compare my pre and post turbo traqmate data and see what I can glean from it. I am also going to analyze the optimum shift points for pre and post and see if that points to anything other than shifting at the red-line as a strategy assuming I am not choosing to short shift for some reason. Any other ideas for off-track analysis are welcome.

I will post anything interest and then try again when I hit the track in a few weeks.
