The December issue of Sport Auto featured the detailed results of a double test at the Nrburgring, in which the new Cayman S merely beat the equivalent Boxster (with 10 hp less) by a full second. The following link also shows sector times:

Presumably these cars didn't have the ceramic brakes, nor did they have sport tires. On the shorter Hockenheim Ring the Cayman was less than a full second faster.

By clicking at the top of each column one can sort the data. Note that the Audi TT RS Coup, featured in last month's issue, has the same time as the Boxster on the Hockenheim Ring but is significantly faster than the Cayman S on the Nrburgring (by 8 seconds).

Cayman S -06 had laptime same circuit (20.6 km) at 8.11 that was just short of Carrera S

Then tires was MPS, this time something else, think this makes up for the diffrence

Are you sure that 8.18min means 8 minutes and 18 seconds or does it mean 8 minutes and 18 hundredths of a minute?

If the latter than the difference between Boxster and Cayman was only 1/100th of a minute or 0.6 seconds. Certainly within the margin of error of any driver over 8 minutes of driving the Nordschlief.

It's 8 minutes and 18 seconds. In the charts the "." is synonymous with ":" because the decimal point is written as a ",".

To get the track segment times one has to click on the tab on the top that says "Wertungen", then click on te bottom right corner of the circuit image to blow it up.

Some of the better times reported for the first generation Cayman S were likely with the expensive ceramic brakes and with a better driver and tires. In an earlier edition of Sport Auto, years ago, the Cayman S did indeed have a worse lap time than was reported last December.
