Deviant leather ideas
I'm kicking around ideas for a distinctive but not too crazy interior to go on a silver CS. One thought is black with some Carerra red accents on the thin strip on the door and lower dash. My question is how much does doing something like that add to the price and delivery time and is there some recommended scheme for what to deviate?
The link below is somewhat close, although I'd stay with black seats and I can't tell what the doors look like.

BTW, I got a chance to drive an RS60 Boxster yesterday. All the Carerra Red might get old after a while, but my first impression was that it's quite a looker.
Thanks.

I didn't do as much research/thinking about interior options as I now wish that I would have. The only interior "look" option I got was carrera white instrument dials (to replace the black on the 2.7L). But I think some tinkering with the trim and leather accents look very good. As you say ...not going too crazy, just some contrast to draw attention to. I also saw an RS60 Boxster yesterday and had a similar reaction - it looked fantastic on first glance, but that's alot of red to look at every day.

I am not aware that Porsche would do arbitrary leather pieces in a color to sample (at least not at "order book" prices).
You can order an upper dash, lower dash, seats etc. and I would assume that that would add several weeks to production time.
As an option, if you want red inside, I would just order black interior and that have Bumperplugs paint some of the pieces red.

If I'm reading that picture correctly, that car has two options you are noticing: deviating upper dash color and deviating carpet. Those are actually pretty simple to get, and shouldn't affect your delivery time, so long as you use standard colors. (Color-to-sample can add months to your order, which is why I gave up on it.)
I also tried to order some special color deviations, like red seats with a dark grey interior, and the dealer said it couldn't be done. Some folks on this forum said anything can be done, and the dealer just didn't try hard enough. I'm not sure what the right answer is, but my conclusion is that if you want some really special deviations selecting the right dealer is important too.
My experience with multi-color interiors is that they get old after awhile. What seems cool initially sometimes looks gaudy later, unless you select very wisely. A friend also counseled me that contrasts with different materials often works better than different colors, and having seen a few Porsches with aluminum look, wood, carbon fiber, or painted parts, I think he has a good point. In the end perhaps I'm glad the dealer couldn't do the red seats.
I agree with you on the Carrera Red possibly getting old after a bit. That's quite a bold color for a monochrome interior. (Apologies to anyone that feels differently enough to have bought it.) I also considered red seat inserts (another easy option), but in the end just went with dark grey everywhere. I'm considering adding the aluminum look shifter and brake handles later, if the interior comes out too drab.

"Mind expanding" isn't the term I'd use for that one, though the craftsmanship looks incredible. Those seats look pretty interesting too.

go for it
if you search dealer websites, you can find pictures of carrera red interior with deviating black carpet (think it breaks it up nicely)
I'm thinking a carbon package and maybe carbon center console would also help offset all of that red or alternately painting some of the interior pieces black or just getting black floor mats
here is an example of sand beige with upper dash blue and blue carpet
EUROCLASSICS PORSCHE :*CARDETAILS : 2008*Porsche*911 Carrera S Cabriolet
I'd really like to see Carrera Red leather in person but based on pictures I'd get something in another color to "tone down" all that red

You won't be disappointed with dark grey.

For the best selection on the west coast I'd try West Hollywood!

Swancoat - You win second prize only
You have to go back further than that for the true origin. The signature line is your second clue.

There is something strange about that terminology. It sounds like something that would be covered by California Megan's Law.
Multi-color leather looks real good at first, but how will it be day after day?
Here's an example in a Lotus Elise.

I think you have to be careful about "pimping your ride" too much, as others have already indicated. Go with a classic main color, and use a couple accent pieces in a deviating color. Or mix in some Alcantara in the same color. You can create a unique, aesthetically pleasing look without destroying the resale value of the car. Go too far, and you'll NEVER sell that thing.
