Job done - taking delivery tomorrow

Hi all

I just wanted to thank all of you for your postings to the site. Tomorrow I’m going to the dealer to pick up my brand new MY08 CS and I’m absolutely stoked about it.

I’ve been agonizing about the purchase for ages because, living in Manhattan, a car is a real extravagance. The postings on this site pushed me over the edge and I’ve been reading all of the postings on the Sales and Leasing forum avidly trying to get an idea of what is and isn’t a good deal.

As many people on the site have pointed out, the bottom line is to buy the car and enjoy it. However there are those of us who feel obliged to negotiate on price so, for those of you who would appreciate some input on what other people are paying in the North East (the others of you should perhaps look away for the next few lines), I got a black/beige MY08 Cayman S, 7 miles on the clock, warranty un-punched, with pref pack+ and climate for 12% off MSRP. I’m sure that there are better deals out there (some postings claim as much) but this car was on the lot with exactly the spec I wanted and so, to me, this deal is perfect. I was also offered very similarly spec’d brand new MY07 cars for 18% off MSRP but I thought 6% wasn’t worth a MY.

My guess is that it’s odds-on that the facelift appears for MY09 but with a bit of exchange rate uncertainty (how much will prices go up? etc) I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s a shame to miss out on any extra HP but I wanted that car for the summer!!

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice. I’ll see you on the open road – I’ll be the other one with a massive grin on my face!

Dammit I posted this to the wrong forum!! - I meant to post it to the main sales and leasing forum, not the sub-forum. This 'Cayman enthusiasm' thing is not as easy as I thought it would be!!

Congrats Captain Slow. The weather this weekend in the city will be perfect for you to put some miles on the car.

Watch out for the potholes!

Congrats on the new car. 12% sounds pretty good to me.
