Greetings....she's here!
As many others here that I have noticed in the three weeks since signing up, I now will be welcoming The Croc into the garage. I have purchased a '06 Seal Grey that I will be picking up tomorrow morning after her journey from out of state. I would like to thank this site. While my purchase selection came over an extended period and I only found this site after the die was cast, I have learned much and expect to learn much more about this beast from those who are leading on the learning curve.
I do have stories about alligators in garages thanks to living in central Florida but the latest tale is about to begin. I look forward to being a member here and hope that I can contribute some car knowledge, experience, and savvy as well as maybe a thing or two as I get to know this new beastie.

Sincere Thanks
My sincerest thanks to everyone who replied here for their welcoming comments.
Okay folks. I've had this car for 35 hours and would like to say: Woof!!!
I have had the disease my whole life......started with a Lancia V4, Spitfire, restored a 59 Merc 190 SL, Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2, Aston DB4, drove for AutoDelta out of Milan during the 2 liter Grp 5 era in early 70s GTVs, then came back to the states and drove for AutoHaus our of Charlotte in 911s and for Harry Ingle of Zink in Formula Super Vees (later became Citation). Went so far over the edge as to have had 7 Alfas at one time (or pieces of them...lol...sick puppy). The list goes on through some insane stuff. My present daily commuter is a 97 E36 M3 4dr in White w/Black Oz wheels and trim.
Given all that sickness, the Cayman is one very SLICK car! Wow, I am seriously, seriously impressed. There is a thread here on all the little touches which are indeed very cool, but.....it is the overall balance of this car that is so very impressive and I haven't even really explored it yet. But you can feel it all the time. I anticipate a long and delightful relationship!
Woohoo!!!
It is almost enough to feel guilty about the gentleman whose circumstances dictated he put her up for sale. But I promise, she has found a good and loving home.
Thanks again for the warm welcome here. This is going to be a BLAST!!

Hi Ranald and welcome. Enjoy your new friend as often as possible. I try to drive my CS as much as I can. The more I drive it the more I like it. I am in Ormond Beach. Where are you?

The Equipment
Hey Daytona, I am in the Tuskawilla area of Winter Springs (NE Orlando).
DriveS4spd, as for the equipment
S
PASM
Sports Chrono
Sport Shifter
19" Carrera S Wheels
Lthr Sports Seats
Carbon Pkg
Tinted Glass
Heated Seats
Bose Surround
Automatic Climate
If I had ordered it new, I might have lived without the Carbon Pkg and the Automatic Climate Control, but all the rest would have been exactly my choices. I find the exact right car, 2 yrs old, 10k miles, and with the certified warranty. Couldn't have done better....
I swear it is being really difficult to be appropriately socially humble when friends/co-workers say nice things and ooh & ahh......I just want to grin and go MINE, ALL MINE!!!!

PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
|
 |
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

When ever someone makes a nice comment about my CS or complements me on it, I just say: Thank you. I really enjoy the car. Peolpe in general seem to like that those lucky to own nice cars like the CS really enjoy driving them. I am one of those that drives the cars. I lke to keep the car clean, but it is not a garage queen.
