Aqua blue to replaces Cobalt blue?

Anyone have a picture of the 09 997 in Aqua blue?

Do you think 2009 Cayman will also offer this color and does it mean the end of Cobalt blue?

I'd love to see a side-by-side of these two colors.
Seems the Aqua is just a tad lighter ?

I heard from my dealer a few weeks ago that Cobalt was being phased out.

Here's a great picture of Aqua. There are a few more photos if you click through the gallery. You can also view hi-res versions by clicking on specific pictures.

Personally, I love this green 997 Cabriolet. Do you guys think that's Malachite green?

I DO believe that is the Malachite Green - very closely matches the paint sample in my 2007/2008 Cayman sales book (and the color I'm waiting to order). It changes from dark green to almost golden, depending on how the light strikes it.

The new green, replacing Forest Green, is a deeper, purer green called "Porsche Racing Green", not a metallic. Reminds me of British Racing Green on older MG's. Porsche Car Configurator has the new colors ready for the 911 / 911 S and Cabrios.

The Aqua looks a bit brighter than the Cobalt Blue; was afraid they were going to make it the bright pastel shown in an earlier post on this thread.

THanks for the pics

#1 and #3 are the Aqua Blue in shade and in direct sunlight. Photo #2 is the cobalt blue in direct sunlight, for a comparison.

Not much difference?

It's hard to make a conclusive judgment from the photos, but it seems that Cobalt Blue and Aqua Blue are as similar as Seal Grey and Meteor Grey. Since my Cayman is Cobalt Blue, I would like to see the new color in person. 987f

Great color choice, and well worth the $$$ premium for special paint! I haven't seen Malachite in person, but it reminds me of Aventurine Green - which was a great color on the Porsche 993.

I don't see the green to gold effect in any of the photos. I know Dark Olive shifts from dark green (almost black) to gold depending on how the light hits it. It looks amazing.

I saw a malachite/cocoa turbo. Absolutely stunning combo very elegant. I also saw a cream/blue carrera S loved that as well. Those two combos are amazing not sure which I like better if I were to take delivery of the S it would be a hard decision to make.

Just a random observation: I have a Cobalt Blue Cayman, had a Seal Grey Boxster, and have a Firemist Red MB SL 500 and a Firemist Red SLK 350. Seal Grey has been supplanted by Meteor Grey, Cobalt Blue will soon be replaced by Aqua Blue, and Firemist Red has been replaced by Storm Red. In each case, the new color is almost indistinguishable from the old. Does this bespeak a fear of changing something that is popular too much at one time? It strikes me as odd that all three new colors are so similar to their precursors. 987f

I'm seeing a slight hue of what looks like "Green pearl in the metallic" could just be the metallica.
