The tale of a first time Porsche owner's first month in a Cayman...

So, a little background...

I'm 28...my business has grown exponentially in the last year, which allowed me to finally realize my dream of owning a Porsche. After 3 months of searching and researching, I made up my mind for a Porsche Cayman. I found the deal I wanted and in the color combo that I wanted...An absolute beauty...black exterior, black interior (I have a thing for black cars...and the black leather just sets it off).

If there's one thing about me, is that I work hard and I play hard. Works really been grinding into me in my first month of ownership, so on the weekends, I really find my release in driving the Cayman around. And I must say, it has not disappointed one bit.

Going from an Xterra to a Cayman is like the difference between night and day - the handling, the speed, the acceleration. When I get in the Xterra (my DD), I have to remember I'm NOT in the Cayman.

In one month, I've put on about 2200 miles (only driving weekends). Two trips to San Diego (I live in Los Angeles), one trip to Vegas, and countless LA County cross trips. I remember one night driving from a wedding in Long Beach to a party in Hollywood at midnight just so that I could drive it (I commemorated that drive in the picture below when the car hit it's 10K mile...not the safest thing, but the freeway was empty for the most part.)

I absolutely love this car. When I walk away, I do a double take just to remind myself that "Yup, that's what I'm driving." I keep it nice and clean just to make sure it shines the way it needs to. For the first time in my life, it's actually fun to drive. I don't mind the LA traffic and the long distances to get where I'm going...just being in it is a joy.

For my sake, I really hope I don't lose this feeling. Because if this is what it feels like to be a Porsche owner, I can't wait to the day I get to upgrade. (An S perhaps? :-)

Welcome-
I got lucky and saw my CS on a dealer's lot. Just what I wanted, black on black, like yours. A b***h to keep clean, but kinda therapeutic. I love the car. First time Porsche owner for 6 months now. I recommend trying to meet up with Cayman owners in your area. I've done this here in Houston, and have learned a lot about the car.
