Color combinations, probably one of the most obsessed-about things when ordering a car, is something I've been reading about, viewing, virtually configuring, etc etc for some time. I had a red Cayman S on sand beige interior which I loved. For several reasons I had to trade it in for something else...anyway...

I'm looking to get another one and might go the ordering route. My problem is, there are a bunch of color combinations I have grown fond of via pictures and what happens to be on my local dealer's lot, however I haven't seen many of the unique ones I am fond of in person. I really don't want to make a decision until I see one in person that floors me.

Here's my question, what is the place I can go that would have the most variety/largest inventory of Porsches (viewing color combos on 911s/Boxsters will help since it's easy to project the look to a Cayman) where I can see many color combinations in person (except Stuggart..., and the Porsche parade )? Are there any places (outstanding dealers, shows, etc) that I should put on my radar? Accounts of your personal experiences are appreciated.

When I was in the process of choosing a color combination for my 2008, I visited dealers from PA to AL in the course of my travels. I also had a need to see colors firsthand. I was never able to find the combination that I finally ordered, but I did manage to see the interior/exterior colors separately and that worked for me. The dealer that I found to have the most varied examples of color combinations was Porsche of Rockville in Rockville, MD. It is not a huge dealership, but it was heavy on inventory. Sales manager Ron Evanish has the philosophy that customers will buy the more unusual color combinations if they can view them in inventory. Quite a refreshing change from the "any color so long as it's black, white, or silver" that seems to prevail at so many dealerships. The one factor that may not be in your favor is the present market situation. I'm thinking that some dealers may be running a bit lighter than normal on inventory.

Champion Motors in Pompano Beach Fl usually has a large selection of cars and colors at all times if your ever in this area.
