Guards Red Metallic, anyone?

I'm a fan of Guards Red but also of metallic paints. I like Ruby Red Metallic but it's a little too dark for my tastes. I really like BMW's Melbourne Red Metallic, but they only offer it on M3s (I have a 335xi with Crimson Red, which is non-metallic). I took a look at some Carmona Red Metallic pictures and it looks a lot like Ruby Red Metallic to me.

I'd really like if Porsche came out with a metallic-version of Guards Red.

Would you want Porsche to come out with a "Guards Red Metallic"? And if so, would you get it on your next Porsche?

If they did come out with it, it would seal the deal on my next Porsche exterior color in a nanosecond. I had a Guards Red but ideally I'd like it to be metallic.

My choice would be that Porsche not release it (unless there is enough demand) but that they approve the color you want to use as a paint to sample color. In which case you can get the exact color you want, it will just cost a little more.

One other options is to get a guards red car clearcoated using a clearcoat that contains metal flake.

I'd say yes, I know I can color to sample, but hey, I'm too lazy to do that

Viable options for sure. In an ideal world it would just be another ~$700 paint option you can click on the configurator. If I wanted so bad that I was willing to drop $$ on aftermarket or on paint to sample, I would...and if I was able to get over my desire to keep the car original/non-modded. On that note I haven't decided if I think getting paint to sample sort of makes the car "non-original" or "original yet tainted" or "original and unique and the value increases because you essentially have the only, or one of a very few exterior color options". But that's another thread for another day I suppose...

Re: Guards Red Metallic, anyone?

I would also choose Ruby Red over Guards Red, but difference in taste is what has generated all the color choices to date. If I were Porsche, I would would have a wider selection of metallic colors to induce people to spend another $700.

Re: Guards Red Metallic, anyone?

I am not a great fan of metallic reds. I like BMWs Crimson Red or BMWs Imola red. I also like Hondas New Formula Red.

I get enough law enforcement attention in my Guards Red as it is

I like BMW's Crimson Red as well....as it's the color of my 335xi. However, I'd rather it be Melbourne Red Metallic, but that's offered on M3 models only unfortunately.
