$91,990 Cayman S!
I just priced out a new 2009 Cayman S configured how I'd buy it if it were up to me, and that's the price I came up with. A couple of things I couldn't figure out from the configurator were:
1) No sign of stitching anywhere, even checked 911 configurator, is colored/deviated stitching not being offered anymore?
2) The floor mats that were more than $400 do those have colored trim? It just said smooth leather trim, but it didn't say if it was say in speed yellow like the current generation Cayman can be ordered in.

Re: $91,990 Cayman S!
Yikes!.....I bet I could get one above $100k though!
The deviated stiching option always seems to show up a year or so after a new model/revision is announced, crazy.
I think $400 floormats would be frowned upon in todays economy though, you might want to leave those out.

Yeah that's the current generation Cayman or should I say first gen now, and I remember on the order guides it was pretty specific about bindings in various colors, but on the configurator it doesn't say so I wasn't sure if it was these floor mats again (which I like) or something different.

Re: $91,990 Cayman S!
Ken
The dealers have the deviating stitching in their computers. There is also alcantara inserts for the seats as well. There are two choices of floormats, w/ leather trim or w/ colored trim. They are in the 911 configurator and I thought they were also in the Cayman configurator as well. The 09 CS I had originally configured was around $85-87K, w/ PDK, LSD, PASM, PSE, and SC totalling $10K alone. The car specifications below are not that much different than my 06 which had an MSRP of 73K prior to the addition of the Techart 19" Formulas. Dave

PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
|
 |
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

LSD - Limited Slip Differential
|
 |
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

Re: $91,990 Cayman S!
Yea, that's almost the same price I came up with. Which I guess is good becuase now I no longer have to think about 'upgrading' since I'll never be able to afford it!
I saw a picture somewhere with a leather rear center console (with nice stiching too) that looks awesome. I'm guessing that was an extra unfathomably expensive upgrade but I loved the way it looked. Esp since my rear center console somehow got all scratched up.

Wow! that's damn pricey considering for about the same money you could get a lightly used 997 GT3!

Deviating stitching is available. "Custom Tailoring and Deviations - Other" pages 19, 20 & 21 in Cayman order guide

Re: $91,990 Cayman S!
My total price, configured was $99,955. A lot of that though is cheeper to get as tequipment through suncoast. Aerokit for example.
Then we still need a roll bar, suspension + airlift (would be nice if we could order the GT3 airlift system for the cayman), clear engine cover, exhaust, flash... i think thats it...

Ya'll are nuts
Well, if you're going to insist on gold plated trim pieces, you're going to have to pay the price.

btw airlift and the dynamic engine mounts on the GT3 will not be available until Sept 2009 earliest and I have only seen these on the German configurator so far
