Improve radio reception in tunnels

While driving into a tunnel or covered parking garage, my radio instantly turns to annoying, raspy static while listening to AM or FM radio.

Radios in my other cars lose some reception but still allow you to hear something when driving under covered structures. It is particularly annoying when that sports score you've been waiting for is just being announced as you enter the garage!

Any suggestions for improving the radio reception or boosting the antenna?

In tunnels, the best thing to do to improve the sound... is to turn off the radio and open the windows... and hit the loud pedal. This is a real treat if you have a sports or free-flowing exhaust.

Re: Improve radio reception in tunnels

I had poor reception in weak areas and found that the antenna plug-in in back of radio was loose probably from when I installed 6 CD change. Became much more acceptable after that fix. Probably not your problem but who knows ?
