ZR3 Boxster Install?

Has anyone installed an Escort ZR3 Laser Shifter in a Boxster?

I'm contemplating giving it a shot, but am very curious about how to best route the wire for the rear transceiver into the passenger compartment. Once I get the wire from the rear license plate into the trunk, I'm imagining having to run it through the engine compartment (though I haven't actually investigated this fully - have never been in there myself). In addition, I expect routing the wires through/around the top mechanism could cause a lot of problems, if I were to somehow get the wire caught in the top itself I can't begin to think of the damage it'd cause.

Any immediate flags come to mind as to why this might be a terrible idea? Wouldn't want to start down this path only to find out it's not something a DIY could do. If I'm the first and have a reasonable chance of doing it myself, I can promise a thorough article for anyone else wanting to take a chance.

I know you said it's for a Boxster, but have you taken a look at this...

Have a look at the TSB for the Sports Exhaust System, Paragraph 6.3 onwards. The DME is on the left side in the rear trunk behind the carpet.

The article quoted in the previous post (removing the rear light cluster will get you part way, then route the wire behind the trunk carpet.

PSE TSB

(If you can't download the file PM me)

Yeah I've studied the article pretty extensively so that's how I'm at least comfortable getting the cables from the license plate into the rear trunk. The two ZR3 articles on the site mention routing the cables from the trunk through the cabin. I wasn't sure if that's possible in the Boxster because I thought the rear trunk was completely separated from the passenger compartment by the engine & top assembly. Hopefully the TSB will educate me otherwise and prove that this might be easier than I expected.

PM Sent with TSB attachment. I'll post the TSB in a while for all to see how to route a cable from the rear trunk into the passenger compartment on a Boxster.
