Hi.

I have PCM 2.1 SW 3.0 (uncompatible MP3 CD). Is there hihger version PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update Disk ???

If your pcm is a MY2005 or earlier then the simple answer is no , it cannot be updated beyond software version 3 (level B). If the car is a 2006 model then its possible it may have MP3 compatability that is not enabled and can be updated to level 3.3 (level c). I am not aware of any software updates to update early PCM 2.1 units beyond this level. If the car is currently at software version 3, it sounds like it has already been updated as most of the MY2006 cars were at level 3.1 originally.

If you press the MAIN and TRIP buttons , a menu is displayed , this will give details of the current pcm level and software versions. If the car is MY2005 and original PCM fit , then level 3 will the furthest update possible. As you stated originally the PCM2.1 cannot be updated to give MP3 playback as the hardware doesn,t support it. There are few if any noticeable differences between software version 3 and 4.1 (the last version). Dont get hung up on the software version, it doesnt really matter. Post code search and trafiic message capability is part of the MAP DVD not the PCM software.

Should I be able to use later DVD Maps, e.g. 2006, 2007, 2008 ?
