Mounting amps in the DVD drive area?

I'm intending to mount 2 Blaupunkt Class D amps stacked where the
DVD drive would be for the NAV unit.

Does anyone have any advice about how to fasten them down?

I took a quick look and didn't see anything obvious.

How is the DVD unit attached?

Thanks in Advance!

Re: Mounting amps in the DVD drive area?

I have the 6 CD changer. I'm not sure if this helps but there is a bracket that is bolted to the metal under the carpet.

That helps a lot! The bracket you have pictured is not present in my car.
I need to try to get my hands on one.

Thanks!

Re: Mounting amps in the DVD drive area?

I think I found the part number for the bracket.
P 997 645 221 00

You can double check using the Cayman Parts Catalog from Porsche PDF.

I found it on page 287 of the 987C_USA_KATALOG.pdf.

Be careful when drilling and using screws in that area of your car. I remember a post a while back that someone drilled into the gas tank when trying to install something in that area. Good luck!

+1, I'd definitely avoid drilling in this area. I'd use industrial strength velcro.

Re: Mounting amps in the DVD drive area?

I want to get this install over with... and get my car put back together, so
I'm thinking about getting a little more creative. The whole equipment stack
fits where the DVD drive would be, so I'm thinking of just bending an aluminum
strap that I can bolt down to the bracket for that sealed box on the left.
(What is in that thing?) Just that and some velcro should do it.

I picked up a little 3" 12V fan to put in the space so that everything stays
nice and cool too. I'm thinking I can power it directly off the amp remote
lead so that it is only on when the audio is on. Should keep things nice and
cool in there. I noticed that the space already has some ventilation slots,
so the fan should be able to work effectively and circulate the air into the
larger bonnet area.

Re: Mounting amps in the DVD drive area?

I need to use my eyeballs a little more.

Once I removed that small square of carpet I realized that there is a
small flat platform with lots of mounting holes. There should be no problem
making a bracket to hold the equipment in the DVD location.
