Does PCM playing video DVD

Can anyone tell if the 2009 model PCM unit will play the DVD movies or just audio?
According to the introduction movies from Official Porsche Website, it will.
I have see anyone talking about this.

Re: Does PCM playing video DVD

PCM 3.0 manual (and something I just tested this morning) says it will play the AUDIO track of a video DVD. It will not actually play the video - the PCM system does not include a DVD codec for video.

With BOSE system, if the DVD has a Dolby 5.1 track, that is enabled and cannot be turned off (at least thru the touch screen). Result is very poor center channel quality - such as dialog or music. Volume is very low for these, and the sound effects are too loud.

Maybe with the TV tuner option it might have the proper codecs. If not, I'm sure someone will devise a means somehow (think old Cayenne PCM)

I believe it is illegal, for good reason, to install a video playback
device within view of the driver.

Please don't do this even if your intention is to only watch
videos while the car is parked.

Alaska is the only other state that has even a tougher law against electronic distractions on the road: it is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison if a driver causes a fatal accident when a television, video monitor or computer inside the car is in the driver's field of vision. The law applies to phones used for texting. Alaska legislature passed this law in 2007 after an accident in which a driver, distracted by watching a movie on a video monitor in his car, caused a crash in which two people died.

You are right. Actually in the Evo X, you can watch DVD's (and even play PS if I remember correctly) but all that is disabled once the car moves. i.e. only allowed when you are stationary. I would guess the Panamera has a similar option!
