I believe it is illegal, for good reason, to install a video playback
device within view of the driver.
Please don't do this even if your intention is to only watch
videos while the car is parked.

Alaska is the only other state that has even a tougher law against electronic distractions on the road: it is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison if a driver causes a fatal accident when a television, video monitor or computer inside the car is in the driver's field of vision. The law applies to phones used for texting. Alaska legislature passed this law in 2007 after an accident in which a driver, distracted by watching a movie on a video monitor in his car, caused a crash in which two people died.
