GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
EDIT: This product does not exist as originally thought.
No affiliation with the company.
I just spoke to Ernesto over at Sound Innovations in Hayward, CA about a change out of my CDR-24 and BOSE system since he did it on his and his wife's 987's. Great guy and I think he has earned my business.
He told me about a product from Nav-TV that was just released which allows you to change out the CDR-24 without needing any amps. This device interfaces with the BOSE amp in the front trunk to allow output.
NAV-TV Corporation: Audio and Video Interfaces
This would allow you to just get a new navi head unit, a double din facia kit (or custom), and this Nav TV unit to upgrade.

You need to select your vehicle in the left nav and don't select a product from the checkboxes. It will bring up all products. The name is "MOSTAUX-POR"
Here is a link to the PDF - http://www.navtv.com/userfiles/edito...structions.pdf

Re: GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
Looking at it, it would appear that it's just an Auxillary input.
I suppose you could Run a HU line out to the RCA's.
I'm curious how the Bose system would sound with this..
Anybody think they'd loan one out for a Review?

I thought the Dension units had a solution for cars with Bose, do they not?

Can you use the dension and just a new headunit to replace a CDR-24? I don't suppose why you couldn't but it has a lot of redundant functions that a multimedia navi unit would provide such as BT and stuff.

Re: GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
This just gives you RCA input cables as an aux input. It runs $400, which is a little pricey for that purpose. With the Dension, you get an ipod interface as well as an aux input for $600 or so. I imagine that Navtv's ipod unit does so as well.
Just to note, this does not allow you to replace your CDR24 with an aftermarket head unit. The head unit is required to coordinate the most bus.

You guys are right, the product I listed is not the right one. Nav-TV showed it at CES this year and Eddie from Sound Innovations replied, saying that this MOST-AUX product was not it. I'll call them tomorrow to see what's up and report back.

Sounds like an exciting product, I'm interested to see how they will price it and if it will be compatible with the older and newer 987s.

I thought that was just the aux-input, apparently they have another product in the works that actually is an interface for a new headunit.

Re: GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
So the benefit of this upcoming product is so that I can keep my Bose amp? Buying a new amp is like $400. This product will probably cost as much. So financially there's not much benefit.
Any other reason for keeping the Bose amp?
BTW, if it's to keep the Porsche MOST system from going crazy, I think I've read posts (including one done very recently) that are able to replace the amp for no issue, other than losing the CD track display info on the dash.

Re: GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
So I called them today and they do not have this product coming yet. Sorry if I got everyone's hope up, including mine.
If there was such a product, and at that 399 price point, I think you would still save money because a new amp would need all the associated wiring, fuses and labor to get it working.
I guess a new amp is the only way right now if you wanna replace the HU...or run all of the speakers off the HU amp which in a BOSE system would probably be worse.

Re: GOOD NEWS! Bose interface available for just a HU change!
Sorry for digging out this older thread...
I´m a complete newbie to this site, arrived here especially because of that suspicious new product. It is indeed made by NAV-TV, and it´s called "MOST-HUR". Next to quite a few PR message after CES 2009, almost nothing to be found on the web (except one shop).
NAV-TV claim they stock it, here it is:
Fiber optic head unit replacement module for 2004 to 2009 Porsche Cayenne vehicles with amplified sound systems
Installing into the vehicle with just 4 connections and the included antenna adapter and M.O.S.T. fiber optic extension, the MOSTHUR supplies accessory power, illumination, reverse, VSS (vehicle speed pulse), vehicle brake, parking brake and user configured infrared steering wheel commands* to the aftermarket radio. *Currently supported head units are Alpine and Kenwood with a 1/8” infrared port at the rear of the radio.
$699.99
Now, my question would be:
In the meantime, anybody gathered experience with this?
NAV-TEC stocks the product!
Regards from a newbie from Europe!
