Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

Ok, this early morning I decided to put my CS to an acceleration test for the very first time since I bought it. I was very disappointed to find out the Sport Chrono Plus doesn't measure acceleration

I am looking for an acceleration meter that can do the job (period), nothing complicated to install please since I'll be ordering it by courier. Any recommendations?

The next step would be after putting my 2006 CS to the acceleration test is to do some modifications here in Saudi Arabia that can flirt with the 0-60 4.0 seconds barrier. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

The G-Tech Pro is pretty popular. If you have an iPhone, you can also download some Apps that will work.

You gotta be kidding me!!! So you just saved me 200 bucks? Well, in order to check its accuracy I have to compare it with Abu al-Abed's method

What's Abu al-Abed's method?

Well, after being disappointed that the SC+ doesn't have the acceleration meter I used Abu al-Abed's method which is as follows:
1. Raise the rev to 5000 rpm with the clutch down.
2. Start the stopwatch of the SC+ as I release the clutch.
3. Once I see it hits 100 km/hr I stop the stopwatch.
4. of course I end up with about 6.4 seconds on my stopwatch.
5. so I deduct 1 second for the delay when starting the stopwatch.
6. another second for the delay in stopping the stop watch.
7. another second for tolerance in general.
8. and I round the figure to TARA => 3 seconds
9. My conclusion was that my CS can even beat my bro's GT2

I use the GTimer-2. It is consistent.
Use the search tool for more postings on it.

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

Hahahahha nice work bro!

Btw, the reviews on the dyno on the iphone say its off by 3km/h only!

That's damn accurate to me.

I tried it on my 6 cylinder Cayenne and got 8.2 to 100km from 0... that sounds reasonable doesnt it?

YOU ALREADY OWN A CAYENNE ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You completely lost my sympathy Doc for the delay of your CS delivery!

I thought you never owned a Porsche before... so why are you suffering as you can enjoy your Cayenne meanwhile?

Poor me who waited for 3 months to have my hands on a Porsche for the very 1st time!

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

Actually, the cayenne is not my first porsche too.

I had a 2001 Porsche Boxster Orange exterior, Black Interior... I loved that car too and sold it for the Cayenne

and I also drove a 2003 BMW 330i.

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

Thanks bro..

to be more specific.. the Boxster was my dad's car and he gave it to me after I got my license.

and when I was away in med school (330 was with me abroad), we decided to sell the boxster because no one used it and bought a cayenne for the house instead (which im driving now till I get my cayman).

I loved the boxster, the color was so unique... only 1 in the whole country and a chick magnet... int it3arf ayam il 9eya3a

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

cheap G meters are not worth it imo

you can change a setting and get wild results

you need a hi spec GPS meter but you can get cheap ones like

PerformanceBox - Datalogger and Performance Meter

Re: Can you recommend an Acceleration Meter?

Finally I got my G-Tech/Pro SS today from UPS. But I need some help configuring the pitch factor. Anybody knows what is the pitch factor for a 2006 CS?

Any suggestions about the G-Tech readings or configurations?

+1 I have the G-Tech Pro SS, not worth it, and i had the GTimer, not worth it. Get the driftbox from Performance Box, that is what all the car testers use. The G-tech Pro will stop after 4000 feet, so you cannot do 1 mile runs with it.
