Help with Dension 500 and BTW

Just had this professionally installed in my 2007 Boxster S. I believe its PCM 2.1.
The guy said as I picked it up that I would'nt get text!!!!!
He was closing and realising my annoyance said he would get back to me in the morning. From all the information I gleamed pre-install it was supposed to support this, otherwise whats the point for £550!!!
I suspect the installer does'nt know what hes doing and something basic is wrong - can anyone please give me some direction, or perhaps the installer is right.
Please help as I am feeling pretty pi**ed now.
Thanks

Re: Help with Dension 500 and BTW

Anyone got any ideas - PLEASE!!!!
Ive spent hours trying to sort this out. I have tried a few ipods so thats not the issue. I struggle to get into the various modes. I do the on off 3 times thing which sometimes helps I have tried selecting all modes though it normally reverts to .ipod UI (they are all prefixes with the dot is that correct?)
Basically now I have control via the ipod, but thats hardly useful. I have had it working in I dont know what mode and it displays text then loses the text when I show the list.
All really weird stuff.
I have tied upgrading firmware and resets but still no joy. Suspicious now that it may be faulty. And very angry as this was a paid for install, I would understand if I did it. Incidentally I also have the Blue tooth module which could be upsetting it.
PLEASE HELP SOMEONE as Dension support is ludicrously slow and there appears to be no support forum.
Cheers

You need to configure the switches on the side of the GW500. go to dension.com and download the instructions I think is 1-up 2-down 3-down and 4-up, but on the website you will find it for sure. Good Luck!

there's an article in the articles section of this board that tells you what to set the swtiches to. i'd put a link in this thread but i'm a bit useless.

IceLink 500 Gateway - My Articles

link above

pic extracted from the thread

so 1 down, 2 up, 3 up and 4 down

http://www.dension.com/compatibility...rsche&huMaker=

see link above - should be fully compatable with pcm 2.1 mate. basically you would only ever not get text if you didn't have a PCM screen to view it on.

think i'd be having words with the guy you paid to do the install as a dension gateway 500 costs £280 from www.densionice.co.uk and with the above article you can instal it yourself (which is what i plan on doing) saving yourself £270. although admittedly you'll have a bit of tinkering about with the car but by the sounds of it you're doing that anyway.
