Quick brake change help!

I'm changing my brake pads right now. I previously put in Hawk Blues and am going back to street. I had some squeaking before and the parts guy I use got me the following: There are 4 of the pieces that insert into the pistons, which must be for the front, part 996 351 088 02. There are 12 of the little discs, part 996 352 086 00. Anyone know what the little discs are for? I know how to remove and insert the brake pads, but not the paraphernalia. Any help appreciated ASAP!

Re: Quick brake change help!

The small, round "pasties" are for your rear brakes, 2 per pad. They also line up with the pistons in the brake caliper.

I'm not going to tell you not to install these items but I just removed these from my pads and I have not had any problems with noise.

Re: Quick brake change help!

The discs are for the rear, they insert separately into the pistons. You only need eight.

Re: Quick brake change help!

I think I just figured it out: My parts guy just gave me too many of the discs. They are the same concept as the bigger parts for the 4 piston fronts, but for the rear 2 pistons calipers Should have just 4, not 12!

Re: Quick brake change help!

The ones that are together go for the front. You will notice one of the cylinders is larger, the orientation will become obvious when you take the old one out. Take the protective backing tape off. The small ones are for the rear brakes ( eight, 8, is enough) and they are all the same. I do not know the part numbers of hand, I am assuming you have a qualified parts supplier.
