Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

Hi:

What are the pros of going with GT3 LCAs over camber plates. Camber plate solution seems as effective and much less expensive. Am I missing something?

We use the GT3 parts as they are tried and true(especially in our racing programs)... and they give us all of the camber adjustment we need.

Yes. Camber plates get you about -1 degree more, for -2 degrees total. LCA's can go further negative and can also be used in the rear.

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

OK, I am concluding that if I want racing performance and have a racing budget - go GT3 LCAs. For people on budget and on a street car plates should be more the sufficient. Front only, rear will still require LCAs if more camber is needed than available from stock parts. Cool. Now I need to decide if I should install these at the same time I install springs.

Yes, install at the same time as springs or you will have to have your car aligned twice as opposed to once.

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

Camber plates increase your neg camber by moving the struts inward where the LCAs add the neg camber by moving the wheels outward giving you a little more stability. Mine go on next week. I think I'm going to shoot for -2.5 and -2.5. Does anyone one have a recommended agressive street/track alignment for an everyday driver?

Here's a good thread, look for wpmjr's post. LCA

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

I have had -2.0 for a year, and I am planing to going with -2.3 with my next set of track tires. It will depend on how much street vs track driving you do, and if you use the same tires. If you use the same set of tires for track and street, you can get away with -2.5. I am starting to do more track events, and I have dedicated tires.

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

There is also a potential NVH (noise-vibration-harshness) difference. My car is my daily driver, and I care how quiet and comfortable it is. I think that all camber plates have monoball mountings, so there is NO rubber bushing at the top of the strut. The GT3 LCA's retain the rubber bushing at the bottom and the top for a smoother ride. Along with more adjustability and a wider track, the LCA is superior in every way, but costs more.

If you are going full race, of course, you will want monoballs installed in the LCA's, and monoball camber plates...

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

Good point on bushings. Monoballs will wear and rattle. No doubt about that.

Re: Camber plates vs. GT3 LCAs

There is almorst no increase in noise & rattle with the Tarett camber plates. removing the rubber makes a big difference in turn in and getting the car to take a set. Unless you need more than -3 camber going with the camber plates for street / track use is a no brainer.
