B&B Exhaust Question
I've read some conflicting things about the B&B exhaust, so I wanted to see if I can get some clarification.
A lot of the posts I've read on here (I've searched, read the posts, watched the exhaust shootout, etc.) say that the B&B is on the louder side of exhausts. I just read another post though, where a user changed from B&B to Remus and he was saying that the B&B was quite, almost stock-like. So what is it?
Gator Bite said the Borla was an 8 and the AWE a 6 in his book, where would the B&B fall? Also, the AWE is supposed to have less drone than the Borla, what about the B&B? Again, I've heard different things. Thanks!

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I have a B&B catless exhaust, and would rate it a 7-8 as far as loudness.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I have a B&B catless exhaust and have been very happy with it, and would rate the loudness somewhere around a 7-8. I've heard the Borla, and think they are very, very similar in sound quality and level. All of the aftermarket exhausts will give out some drone between 2k ands 3k RPM, but you get used to it quickly. I bought my system from Performance Products, and think I got a great deal. It's holding up beautifully, and I cannot complain about anything; quality is tops, fit and finish is perfect. I did have to have the tips leveled after installation to make it perfect, but that was a minor adjustment. What can I say, I'm a perfectionist!

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I personally think it's pretty quiet at upper RPM's compared to a few of the exhausts I've heard, and definitely compared to exhausts I've had on previous cars.
It's on the boomier side. If you like a lot of bass to your exhaust and not so much the rasp or higher pitched howl, it is a good exhaust.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I have the full exhuast on mine headers and cats and it is on the drone side. Often times you need to keep it a certain rpms to just get past the drone but all in all it is a good exhuast system. At idle and throtle blip it is not that loud but when you are rowing through the gears and take it up to about 5k it really is loud. In the parking structures the car will set of every alarm just cruising in first or second at about 2-3k rpm.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
Had a B&B catback until a few months ago. It is definitely boomier then others. At idle definitely deeper. It has drone, a lot at first, I measured over 120 decibel in the car after installation. The worst drone burned off and was only in maybe 2,300-2,700RPM range. I paid $850 for mine plus shipping. The whole system is polished to a mirror shine and after almost 15,000 miles still in absolute great condition. It definitely does not have a high pitched European sound such as a Supersprint.
It has a great burble when you get off the throttle, absolutely loved that sound, only out done by the TPC exhaust. And yes the parking garage attendants hated me arriving late having to go down to the lowest level and triggering every single car alarm, good morning boyzzzz ...

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I did some work on Alex's car for him a while back and his system sounded sweet very much like a Fabspeed. Billy Boat has been doing Porsche for a long time and make quality stuff. One of the better things about them are they are so affordable compared to other systems. You won't be dissatisfied with them and as stated they are mirror finished and tend to stay that way for the most part.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
Yeah, their pricing also caught my eye. That said, if the "right" exhaust costs just a few hundred more, I would do it. I really don't want to go over 2k though, and I know w/ these cars that really limits me. That said, I do think I have a lot of quality options even within that price (Fabspeed, Borla, AWE, Remus, etc.). I really wish I could hear some of these in person!

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
One more question: what are the HP gains for this system supposed to be?

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
Not really sure on the hp end allthough I want to say it is in the solid 8 to 10 rwhp. And as far as cost 2k wise there are a lot of good systems that you can go on youtube to hear. I am running the Borla now it seems to get the most power. Ran the Remus before that and it had good #'s as well. With AWE, Fabspeed ,Miltek, Sprint & Borla you get a raw sound that is very exhillirating as well as the noticed and dynoed power. Remus is more exotic and higher pitched but you will get a little of both with the Billy Boat. Quality wise you will not be dissapointd either with B&B. But before you buy anyone system read some of the excellant articles on the various systems power, sound, ease of install and so forth. There reaaly is just about all you need to know to get an idea of what you want. Also put it out if there are any members near you running some of the systems nothing else you will meet some faces and see some cars!

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
B & B will have a bi-modal system soon. It could be worth waiting for.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
Ended up going w/ the B&B thanks to Schwabe. Installing it either Friday or Saturday - can't wait. I'll post my impressions after the install.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
So I had the exhaust installed yesterday and boy is it LOUD. It sounds great, and isn't loud at all when cruising, but it's really loud when you're accelerating. You can shift around a lot of the sound though. I think I'm going back to stock next week. Rims, here I come.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
I installed a B & B on my 1999 c2. This was done 10 years ago so technology has probably changed. The low db drone was very annoying after awhile. More importantly, I always dyno any changes to my cars. With the B&B performance exhaust the hp and torque dropped. Also, you may know of the little downward spike in the Porsche hp/torque curve. Does not show on the factory charts, however, it is real. With the B&B exhaust it was worse. I changed back to the stock exhaust prior to selling the car and kissed the money goodbye.

Re: B&B Exhaust Question
Changed my mind and I'm keeping it on. It's been great driving around w/ it the past few days. The big push for removing it was that it wasn't installed properly so it was hanging a bit low and way off-center (it was touching the left side). I had it centered today and couldn't be happier. It just bugged me so much when it was off-centered I was looking for a reason to remove it ASAP.
It's definitely much more aggressive. It's cool though because you can keep it down (relatively) if you want to. I love the little burble it makes when you stop accelerating.
