Welcome to the Planet Porsche
It all depends on your own personal ability and how confortable you are doing your own work on your car .There are lots of members here that do all their work on their car themseves or with a buddie that has some experience .The mods you mentioned are easily DIY mods IMO .There are even HOW TO articles in the articles section for almost every mod (The how to bible) .That is what I do,I just print the article out and follow directions ,if I get lost I come on line here and ask for help .You will find most members here are glad to help .
I would also recomend purchasing all your aftermarket modification parts from the vendors on this site ,if there is ever any issues with something the PP will back you

Re: Newbie here
Welcome and good to have another Porscher on board. Pete said it if you are mechanicly inclined there are a lot of things you can do to your car. We have a wide range of articles written by some very compitant members. Not only have they taken the time to do the articles but do a lot of R&D as well for those of us anticipating modifying our cars. This site is like Alices resturaunt you can get anything you want provide you have the $ and the time. Whether or not you do it yourself or have someone do it for you is up to you. Take some time familiarize yourself with the site ask questions and see where it goes.

Re: Newbie here
Welcome to the obsession....
I'd like to say a couple of things in regard to your question.
First, these cars aren't as hard to work on as you might think.
Second, it's not as easy to get big gains from small mods on these cars. Porsche did one heck of a good job squeeking out all of the power they could, but there are opportunities for improvement.
Third, where do you live? Can't recommend where to take it if we don't know where you are.

Hahahaa you are about 15-20 minutes from me, I am in Overland Park, KS and have, I believe, the most modified Cayman on the planet. If you need help let me know. I also know a terrific shop not far from you that can handle the work if you don't want to do it yourself. My car is there now for some tweaking...

Re: Newbie here
Exhaust and headers are easier to do than on most cars. Suspension mods are more difficult than most. Exhaust swap takes 1 hour for example.

I'd be the first to admit you have gone waaay beyond what I'd consider typical (or even advisable ) in modifying your CS, but the "most modified"? How do you think yours would compare to folks that have dropped in a 3.8, added a body kit of some sort, coilovers, GT3 seats, etc?
(BTW, my CS is nearly unmodified, unless you count that aftermarket exhaust tip... so I'm not feeling any sort of personal competition with K-Man S at all. )

Well keep in mind that my car has had what 4 bumpers on it now? So some mods are not all on at the same time of course. My engine has been out 3 times, so even though the same engine which was rebuilt went back in, that's a LOT more work than say sticking in a 3.8L engine. I have coil-overs (Damptronic) I have GT3 seats, not in the car at the moment because not at the track. So yeah, while I don't consder my number of modifications to be "normal" because many were done to check out or showcase a sponsor's product or simply out of curiousity, it would be hard to find a more modified Cayman than mine, but I suppose there could be. I seriously doubt there is a more modified one within 15 miles and I've had what 4 different exhaust systems on my car? He could benefit from that.
