I saw this car in person last night. WOW. WOW. WOW! It is smoking hot. It is such a beautiful car it made me want one for sure. Now for a couple of really picky comments. a) I do not like how the body looks so beautiful but if you look closely the new wide body panels at the door handles looks "not so thought out" as in....for me it does not work. The stock handles are still in place and the panel just passes over top of them. Not integrated enough. If I was doing a whole new car design, like this practically is, I would just design new handles....no handles..or something.
Second, the new LED rear lights are great. The passenger side rear quarter panel fits awesome with the lights, but the drivers side is way off. The tip of the light nearest the drivers door is about 1/4" flared away from the body panel as the body panel rolls toward the door. To the light actually sticks out enough to catch your pants on it and break off the corner. This is evidenced by a second Boxster with the same kit installed sitting in the Kinetic Speed Shop parking lot and......you guessed it, the tip of the light was broken off where someone had snagged the corner.
Still..not to detract from the amazing stance, design, aesthetic, etc of this car. It is AMAZING.
Wish I could tell you about the engine.....I never heard it or anything more....wish I could drive it!

As a general rule; I am not very enthusiastic about "tuner" cars, modified body panels, etc. WOW! I really like the looks of this car! Thanks for sharing the photos.

I agree, normally modified body panels look to riced out for me, but this looks great. Only thing I don't is the black in front of the front wheels. Very awesome looking car.

This car was launched at Croctoberfest last night and there will be more info coming on the car in the days ahead. As an FYI those were 12" wide wheels with almost 2" spacers on them. The car is 3.5" wider PER SIDE in the rear. I thought it looked nice but it wasn't finished, so you might want to wait and see the final product when they have it all together for SEMA.

This looks like the Gemballa bodykit (Cyrrus) with the new 997 led tailights. they have the 997 front and rear bumper, Gemballa has no american distributor, gemballausa is a fake company and gemballa has had issues trying to get them to close down for like 3 years now. Looks nice.

K-Man - Are you going to be attending SEMA this year in Nov?
By the way, finally having seen your Cayman at the Petit Le Mans, I really like your body kit. Where did you pick that up? Have you had any problems with fit, etc. since you installed it?

Hi Guys, I have a whole thread running on this... Heh!
http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-mod...onversion.html
BTW ARCuhTEK, I explained it in my thread but the car wasn't done and they temporarily stuck several parts on with tape etc, including BOTH rear tail lights... One of them just wouldn't stay put and the outside corner kept sliding out which is what you saw. TRUST ME, when they're fully done with it at the end of this week it'll be solid including aligning body panels and pieces so all the body gaps are uniform and tight. I'm pretty sure the tail light on Patricks yellow boxster got broken when he had it out test fitting the old style lights into my car before I managed to get a set of the new LED ones. (He dropped it and cracked the corner which is a bit fragile.)
I realize that the door handle bit is a compromise. We thought about removing them entirely and going with an electronic opener but that leaves you stuck if your battery is dead (or in the case of simple electronics failure)and you have no mechanical fall back plan. Is it a perfect solution? No, but its not hideous and it actually doesn't bother me at all. The door handles still function exactly like stock which was the goal of his design.
Kinetic and Patrick are finishing the car this week then it goes to TPC for the turbo kit, and while its there my carbon fiber stuff is coming in from Germany so a Porsche tech is going to install all my new OEM leather dash stuff and the DB carbon pieces, then its off to SEMA in early Nov!
I'll post lots of detail pics once the car is fully 'done' and all cleaned up!

Its not a Gemballa kit, though I guess you could say its a "parallel" design since they both draw design cues from the Carrera GT and in Patritti's case also from the 911 since his conversion is for the Cayman.
Patritti did all his own work, and its EXTENSIVE, to design his own body conversion and you really have to see it in person to appreciate to details and the 'presence' the car has. It took him 3 months of hard work to completely re-do his existing Boxster kit for the Cayman and I have pics and video's of it throughout the process. The panels are solid, the lines are right, the gaps are tight and uniform, the paint is great, the look is AWESOME!

I won't be at SEMA, but itmerc might! No problems with my kit other than any self-afflicted damage.

It's probably too late to suggest it now, but you could have the door handles hidden under the body panel. So reach under and pull towards you... kinda like this pic:

heh! I hear ya...
Patrick actually did hide the handles better on the 996 TT he did for Kinetic but they ran into a problem... If the battery is dead you can't unlock the door... Even with manual handles still there you have to leave the LOCK accessible.
It IS too late for SEMA, but maybe we'll work that out afterwards since it only affects the door panel.

Well I had no idea this was your car when writing my post. I have been following your other thread, but not for a little while. So if you posted the explanation before October 2nd, then I just missed it.
Like I said....AMAZING car. We were all drooling over it. Nice!
