Re: Cayman 5sp

I live outside of philly (cold as well) and drive my cayman everyday....the only probably I have had is once in gear it coughs a bit unitl I hit the gas a bit...but this is rare.

Also from time to time, every once in awhile if I'm stopped and try to proceed by placing the car into first it will be very difficult to get it into gear I guess b/c the pressure plate isn't quite lined-up or something - This has happened with all my manual transmissions from time to time...I either try to wiggle it in or start off in second.

Re: Cayman 5sp

I live in Ohio and you know we can get pretty cold here too..have had the same issue from time to time. As was mentioned before I just put it in second and go. My car only has a little over a 1,000 miles on it so I was blaming it on lack of drive time but apparently that isnt the case.

Regards,
Two suggestions - try putting into 2nd, then from there, see if it will go up into 1st more easily. It also might be that your shifting cables are out of adjustment - take it into the dealer and see if that's the case.

Re: Cayman 5sp

Along with Beez's advice on going down to second-gear first, try blipping the throttle right before engaging first-gear as the rev's are falling. Clutch-in, of course. I find that this not only helps engaging first on cold mornings, but smooths out any hesitancy as you let out the clutch and accelerate.
