Tempearture sensor "failure" warning light

This afternoon after driving the car for about 5 minutes, I got the engine temperature warning light flashing and "temperature sensor failure" message showing up. It stayed on for a few seconds and then disappeared.

This is the second time this has happened in a week. The first time it came on last week, it also lasted briefly and then just went away.

I am getting a bit concerned. FYI, the outside temperature was around 20 F and the engine temperature gauge was showing cold engine.

Any ideas?

Maybe your temperature sensor is failing?

Re: Tempearture sensor "failure" warning light

There are various threads on the cooling system and sensor failures. I had a problem last Spring with my CS and I needed several trips to the dealer to get it fixed properly. My advice is take it to the dealer and have it checked. THis is not something to fool around with, and it may be the precursor to a serious cooling system problem.

Re: Tempearture sensor "failure" warning light

I brought the car in for a scope. The computer found faults on DME and Tiptronic module. Also, the voltage showed up as higher than normal.

I'm scheduled to have the car fixed tomorrow. Thanks for your input.
