Slight clunk in steering column - 05 Boxster

I have a slight bump or clunk in my steering column when I turn it ever so slightly left or right. It isn't very loud, mainly I feel it. Anyone else experienced this. Didn't see anything in a previous thread. Thanks.

I only get it when the car is cold and I am turning the wheel with the car standing still. It seems to be fairly common w/ 987's.....

Mine happened when the car was warm but it was relatively cool out. Well, cool for Florida. It was in the mid 50's. Being from midwest, I understand that is not really cool.

I have a month left on my factory warranty. Should I have it checked out?

Check out the FAQ section - "noise when reversing" actually covers this. It appears that other folks have a similar issue. Apparently an idiosyncrasy of the car.

I would, just to have it on their records that you suspected a problem before the warranty period expired. If the problem worsens at a later time, you can say it was a pre-existed problem and should be covered under warranty, even if the warranty has expired.

Good advice. I am making an appointment for next week. It actually worsened today and only happens when the wheel is centered and it moves slightly to the right. Thanks.

i had the same problem. Known defect. They had to re torque the steering knuckle (have no idea what that is). Easy fix. The problem is gone now,
