passenger seat rattle

hey guys.

a new rattle!!! cant find any posts on this one..

i have been over and over the inside of the car with a fine tooth comb and cant find anything.

its a rattlle that sounds like its under the passenger seat... i checked windows, oil cap, and seat belts but its just not them. if i drive over a bump or drive slow and turn the wheels side to side hear it. im sure its from under the passenger seat but cant pinpoint it. looked under the seat but nothing unusual..

any ideas?

Re: passenger seat rattle

There is a huge cavern under the passenger seet that can gobble up some pretty big stuff. I heard a rattle from my passenger seat, I reached under there and pulled out 3, yes 3 polland spring water bottles and a 25 foot tape measure. Anything that's left on the floor will end up there when you press the go pedal. Raise your seat and see if you find any surprises under there.

Re: passenger seat rattle

Might want to take a look at this thread:

http://www.planetporsche.net/cayman-...vibration.html

The unoccupied passenger seat on all of the seven Porsches (and many other cars, too) I've owned over the years, vibrates and make a little noise when you hit some big bumps or potholes.

Re: passenger seat rattle

I had my car serviced and they had to remove the panel behind the seats to access the engine compartment. I had a rattle when all was said and done. One of the screws fell below the seat and the first searches revealed nothing, but I pulled into the drive way one day and noticed the noise and hit the gas to make it move back, and then brakes just hard enough to make it move but not move into the vent. Reached under and there it was. A mounting screw for the panel.... Imagine that.

And the uninformed thought that all Porsches came with one of Charlie's Angels to address the empty seat issue.

Re: passenger seat rattle

On my 05 Boxster S the passenger seat back rattles like crazy unless I recline it against the firewall. Not sure if your seat issue is the same, but seems like most things will vibrate or rattle unless they are damped by contact with something solid.

Re: passenger seat rattle

Is the rattle coming from one of the body panels underneath the car? Did you hit something while driving that might have done that? Just coming up with other ideas.

Re: passenger seat rattle

You have probably checked this, but just in case, I had a loud seat rattle that was driving me nuts. It only happened when I didn't have a passenger in the seat and it would start and stop erratically.

The metal of the seat belt clip was rattling against the plastic handle of the seat back release. The damned things line up perfectly.
