08 cayman trying to start after winter storage, lights flash, no start

Hi,
Taking the car cover off after the winter, stored inside, 60 F today,, had a trickle charger on and off ,,, oil level check was 59 minutes, went to start ,, headlights blinked on and off repatedly,, back to 59 minute oil check,, put charger on for a couple hours ,, repeat,, same thing.

Funny thing is appears that the battery is fully charged,, lights are on,, dash is fine, radio works power locks solid thunking,,, wipers ok

Any ideas,, is it just mad that it hadn't been driven.

The car only has 750 miles on it,, so does that mean I won't get any love from the dealer on the battery since it is alot less than 6,000 miles?mif thats it. I'm going to check it in the morning and see

The battery doesn't act like it will handle a load. Maybe it isn't as charged as you think.

If you don't get starter movement, then the battery isn't charged. The lights will not dim when the starter engages on a fully charged serviceable battery.

The battery should be on a battery tender during the entire storage period for optimal results.

A trickle charge won't bring any fast help. The battery has about 1000 cold cranking amps. A 100 amp charge would take a few hours to bring it back to life if it were totally dead. You need AAA and a jump IMO.

I agree with fmarshall - I've seen this time and again, not just with my car, but others' as well - enough juice to light up the dash, run the radio, etc. but not enough to turn over the motor. Since your car is so new, the factory might have installed a defective battery - we've had reports of very new cars having dead cells in the battery before - so you might (I said might) even get it replaced under warranty if it's determined that battery was defective to begin with. Call the 1-800-Porsche number and have it taken to a dealer.

The only accurate way to test a battery is under load. Connect a voltmeter across the terminals and turn the key. If the voltage drops significantly (3-4 volts or more) then the battery needs recharging. A fully charged battery should produce 12.6 volts.

I store my 2000 M-roadster every winter with a battery tender connected all winter.
Starts every spring.
Original battery.

You may even have enough juice to light up everything and still not able to even open the front boot. Had that happen with wife's car an a bad cell in the battery. Had to hang it on a 10AMP charger for a few hours, then used the boost function to start it. If you do not hear the starter turn your battery is dead.
