Aircon not working

I live in Dubai and summer is getting close so aircon is soon a matter of survival. Yesterday the aircon (climate) was working fine until i pressed the "Econ" button, after which it seems the compressor don't want to start any more and I only get outdoor temp air even if I lower the temp to Lo.
Anyone had this problem and knows if there is some reboot or other way to get the compressor started, or is it another trip to the garage?

Martin

Pressing the 'ECON(omy)' Button Does Just what it says -------

It Stops the Compressor, so the Engine Runs More Freely, Using Less Gas (And Putting Out More Horsepower).......

This is fine in Temperate Northern Europe - I run in Economy Mode most of the time (Particularly on the Track) except when de-Misting in Winter and de-Humidifying in Summer.......

Turn off the 'Econ' Button (No Light) and your AC will Work Perfectly Again!!!!!

Martin,
Welcome to the site! One of the things you'll hear quite often here is to check the owner's manual. The owner's manual has a description of what the ECON button does, and as others have said above it turns off the compressor so you aren't going to get cooled/conditioned air, simply whatever comes in from the outside. As the owner's manual says, you can press the ECON button again to turn off the ECON light and re-engage the compressor and you will get cold air again.

As I recall the ECON button has been relabelled on new cars but I forget off the top of my head what that newer label is. Porsche did this because some owners found the button confusing.

Hope that helps...

Re: Aircon not working

Hi again and thanks for the good advice, but I guess I was not clear enough. What has happend is that i pushed the "Econ button", it lit up and the compressor stopped, but when I re pressed it (light whent off) the compressor did not start again, and still will not start even after turning off engine. I checked all related air con fuses, but they are all ok.
I have now booked a time with porsch garage next week, I guess this is a warrenty issue, but they keep the car for 3 days!

Martin,
Thanks for the clarification I think you had some of us wondering "why doesn't he just press the button again?" Let us know how it comes out, this is the first AC failure that I've heard of. It might be something simple or something complex so they probably estimated for the worst when they told you 3 days, especially if they need a part which isn't in stock. You were wise to check the fuses!
Best of luck!

Re: Aircon not working

I took the car to the dealer and it turned out to be something related to the temperature sensor for the climate control. They replaced the sensor under warrenty, and now it cold as an igloo again
