My sun visor came off

411 miles, still smell the Cosmolene, and my sun visor came off in my hand. The cylindrical post came out of the socket on the roof of the car.

Can't tell if it's broken; the post contains an inner rod, about 1/8" in diameter, surrounded by a plastic cylinder, about 1/4" in diameter, with a collar on the end that goes into the socket.

Looks to me like the collar thing is supposed to hold the visor rod into the socket.

Anybody know? Just to save me losing an afternoon at the dealer.

Jeffrey

I don't have my parts catalog on this computer otherwise I'd look it up in PET, but surely someone here has it handy and can look up the exploded diagram of the visor. Have you removed the mounting piece around where the rod goes up into it yet? I'm trying to remember what the backside looks like from memory and I can't at the moment.

Here is a link to the Boxster Parts Catalog link
It's under the Boxster files. page 189 shows a diagram of the visor.

Re: My sun visor came off

I pulled mine out with the intent of covering it with leather. You can push it in. It does require a considerable amount of force. Better yet, take it to the dealer they can do the deed for you. Nothing is broken, the description is bang on.

Re: My sun visor came off

Blue eyes has it. Once you get it lined up right it does snap back in. I looked in the Boxster parts catalogue and the Cayman visor is different.

Thanks to all.
