Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

I have several areas in my interior where the paint has peeled off and I'm interested in knowing if this would be covered by the cars warranty. I have not taken it to the dealer yet to find out so I thought it might be best to get some feedback here before I do.

As much as I enjoy the car I'm disappointed the interior is showing more wear than any of my previous (less expensive) cars. I feel like I have gone out of my way to keep it in good shape but still the paint has peeled off.

Any and all help/information would be greatly appreciated,
Brad

I've got the same issues in FL, though not as bad, in my black interior. I have it on the ashtray cover and on the window up\down buttons.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

This might be a little dealer-specific, but I will say that I would be really surprised if my dealer didn't fix these items. When I bought the car (new) (yes, a little different situation than after you've owned it) one of the interior door handles was scratched and there was at least one other interior (minor) item like this, and they replaced all of it to make it 100% perfect before delivery.

Get to know your service writer, get to know the tech who works on the car, keep in touch with the sales manager--people do favors for people they know and like, and especially those that appreciate them...

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

Actually, my service writer was named Brad at Champion Motors, and he had them repair the buttons on my AC controls under warranty.
The buttons looked exactly like yours.
Brad is a great guy, and very helpful with getting things resolved.
I did not need any attention to my ashtray or key bezel, and I am not sure they would cover that stuff, but give them a try.

I just called my service manager and he said that he would replace the parts under warranty! . However, if it was caused by scratches then is not possible, but looking at your pictures I think it can be replace, I have the same problem. I'll take the car as soon as I can!

What do you use to clean your interior? Or is it the humidity in the air? I have no problems at all with my interior. But it is pretty dry out here in CA. And I only use a water-moistened cloth if I wipe anything off. On the leather, I use Griot's garage products.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

My a/c controls peeled and the head unit was replaced last month under warranty. It seems the rubberized finish of the controls is prone to fading. I agree with some of the previous posts that care needs to be taken with the type of cleaning agents used. I now treat the entire are delicately. I'm careful to keep glass cleaner that has ammonia from contacting the dash area.

I hung an air freshener around my stick shift and it started to damage the plastic finish in front of the little storage area under the a/c unit.

Thanks for all the feedback - I will take it in to the dealer soon as see what they say.

Concerning my cleaning methods, all I have ever used to clean everything inside, other than the leather, is a damp with water microfiber towel.

No ammonia on plastics, no windex either inside or outside. Water and microfiber towel is all you need.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

I have some of the same issues. Was going to post but too busy.
I had some delamination of the coating on the door sill after a month of ownership which was fixed by the dealer, and now signs of the other like in the pics. The coating will come off really easy now. I shall call them about this as well as see.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

i had this issue, my car is a 2006 and i took it to the dealer and they changed it all, it was free since the car was still under warranty, but i am thinking of changing it to the shiny plastic material in black, does anyone have an idea how much it costs?

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

I recently had my climate control buttons changed under warranty, but they would not change the ashtray. They said that it was not covered, and if I wanted it replaced, I would have to pay $90 to buy a new one. I thought that was bs. I don't see why they wouldn't replace it under warranty.
I'm going to try to see if another dealership will cover it.

I have this problem and Porsche Reading offered nothing - 'usual wear and tear'.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

Have heard from others that dealer would replace ashtray covers under warranty. If one dealers says no, would try another.

I had the climate controls replaced and driver's side storage pocket replaced today by the dealer under warranty.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

reeves porsche in tampa replaced my ac controls under warranty and gave me the face plate so i could have it painted (eric, bumperplugs). i changed my ignition rosette with bumperplugs as well. it just pulls out with interior removal tools. my ashtray isn't an issue since i have a colored center console.

Re: Anyone had success with warranty repair on interior plastic paint peeling?

This should truly be a warranty issue, end of story. The paint peeling so early in a expensive car is nonsense. I do not have this issue but I would be upset and pursue it with the dealer, if I did. My wife's BMW had his problem, it was just over a year old. No make-up or hand lotions were used. The dealership replaced the effected pieces without any issue. Porsche dealerships should do the same IMHO.
