[QUOTE=notquitefob;357436]Hi guys,
Q): POP, A sticking or leaking valve is a distinct possibility, as is jumped valve timing, particularly with a belt-driven OHC.
A): I will write my humble opinion between your lines:
If the timing chain had somehow jumped a teeth, you will not have a smooth running engine at all times
Q): Then there's ignition, which may be firing way too early due to a twisted distributor, cap/rotor/wire problems
A): You don't have a distributor, cap or rotor, these items are things of the past
Q): a faulty position sensor or a breakdown in the module.
A): It is possible, but with a faulty position sensor I am believe that the failure will be there all the time
Q): Also, if your Porsche's running quite lean, opening the throttle to lots of cold air can induce this reaction.
A): The mixture is adjusted by ECU using the various sensors, like O2 sensor, air temp, air flow, throttle positioning sensor, etc.
Since it's very hard to replicate the noise, i was wondering if there was any way i can point my dealership in the right direction should i bring the car in.
Q): anyone else experiencing this? the only time it's happened is when i'm cruising to a stop to a red light, the light turns green, and i jab at the throttle to bring up the RPM to pop into gear and take off.
A): could this be caused by the flapper valve (vacuum operated), located on the intake plennum..?
Please undertsand that I am NOT (by any means) a mechanic, but I stayed at the Holliday Inn last night..
