09 power steering issues

Does anyone with a 2009 boxster/cayman have any power steering issues?

I was wondering if porsche has addressed the issue that some of the earlier models, such as my 06 Cayman S, have had with the power steering.

There are solutions that people have implemented with mixed results, UDP and PS cooler, but I am wondering what Porsche themselves have done to correct the problem.

Did they change the Power Steering lines around to avoid critical heat areas? Did they change the reservoir size? Different connection fittings?

In short, if Porsche has addressed the problem, what did they do to correct it???

Re: 09 power steering issues

Has anyone with an 08 experienced a problem? I was told porsche was aware of the issue and addressed it for 08. I've had zero issues with mine, lord knows it's seen the right environment.

I have never tracked my car,06 CS, however I have had the power steering whine reported by other owners and had to take the car to the dealer numerous times where they had to replace blown seals on the rack once and refill the power steering fluid. They checked for leaks but nothing came up.

Do you know what changes they made on the 08 to remedy the situation?

Re: 09 power steering issues

No idea. I was told that by the tech when I picked my car up. He could have been blowing smoke or they may have made some changes but I don't recall anyone with an 08 reporting a failure. I knew of the problem going in and since I usually track my cars extensively I figured it would be something I would have to deal with eventually. So far so good.

AFAIK, they made no changes to the power steering system of the '08 cars - they're the same as the '06-'07 cars. The basic mechanicals of the '06-'08 cars are the same.

In that case do you know if they made any changes to the 09?
