'09 speaker issues

During my nice drive today one or more speakers started to "**** out". While listening to a track on a CD the sound faded and the front speakers produced horrible scrapping noise. I turned on the radio (to check if it was the CD), and the rasping got worse. After I turned off the car and turned it back on the sound was fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have a '09 Cayman S with the 'High End Bose Sound Package'

P.S. FYI: I don't blast my music, nor do I listen to music with strong bass.

Happened to me once, sort of, and seemed like it was coming from the sub. But the rest of the channels seemed ok. I hit the sub cover moderately hard a couple times while I was driving (a slight stretch, but I did it without going into the ditch!), hoping it was something loose and vibrating a little with the resonant frequencies coming from the sub...it seemed to help, but not cure it. I got out of the car for an errand, and when I started her back up, the stereo seemed just fine. Hasn't happened since.
Doesn't seem to be exactly like you described, but I have read a few things about strange intermittent stereo problems on this forum....mainly from the Bose system.
Mine is an '06, and I've had it only a few weeks.
Let us know what you find, if anything.

Re: '09 speaker issues

Thanks. The speakers worked fine this morning...

But I think the problem is the sub as well. I can't tell for sure, but I felt the worst of the noise was coming from there.

If it happens again, I'll bring her in...

CobaltCroc, How does the 09 Bose woofer sound? has Porsche fixed the booming bass sound or does it require the "polyfill" mod?

Re: '09 speaker issues

I had exactly the same thing happen to my '09 CS w/ Bose... about 6 weeks ago. After I shut down the car and re-started, it went away. Hasn't been a problem since.

Re: '09 speaker issues

I have an '08. Twice in 7 months I've gotten a short 1-2 sec screech - but am thinking that was more a problem with the satellite radio (NAV-TV w. Sirius) running through the PCM to the Bose sound system. But once when I was playing a CD I got this uncontrolled fade. The off-on routine worked here and it hasn't happened since. Odd.

My bigger problem has been the occasional "channel freeze up" (which happens not just with satellite but with FM) where it locks onto the same station and changing it on the display doesn't change what you're listening to.

On these occasions I wonder if PCM or Bose hasn't been engineered by someone who worked on Windows software........
