987 boxster and cayman suspension different?

hi,
i believe the suspension -springs,dampeners and antiroll bars are different between the cayman and 987 boxster. non PASM.

can someone tell me exactely what the differences are and are there differnces between S and non S models?
i am assuming the cayman stuff is uprated when compared to the boxster.
the reason that i am asking is, i am about to change my knocking rear shocks on my 2005 boxster S and intend to do the fronts while i am at it.
i have thought about bilstein sports shocks with standard springs etc as i dont want to lower the car too much as its a road car and uk roads are ****. not to mention being able to clear the speed bumps over here.

Is there anything to be gained by replacing my suspension (including springs and arb,s) with cayman S stuff or is the better option to use either boxster shocks or bilstein sports?

thanks

mark

Re: 987 boxster and cayman suspension different?

I would hazard a guess and say the difference in part number on the shocks etc is to account for the slightly different weight, balance and handling charachteristics of a cabriolet vs a coupe.

I would also say that there probably wasnt any gains to be had from fitting standard Cayman S parts over the Boxster S parts. Porsche do things for a reason ( most of the time ). Theres probably a small lug, or notch or something awkward that would stop you from doing this easily as well (Sods law!!).

If you really want to upgrade the handling and make it sportier then why not think about after market Bilstein/H&R/etc components. Although do consider how rubbish most of our roads are and any aftermarket kit will make the car harder, no matter how adjustable it is.
