Temp gage blinking light

This morning we had 17* in Charlotte and right after cranking the car the red light on the temp gage blinked for about 5 minutes and after that it went away. All normal. I guess the cold 17* reduce the amount of coolant enough to register "low coolant level".

What do you think?

Re: Temp gage blinking light

Might be worth checking the level when your car cools off. It's pretty low if a temp drop made the low-coolant warning light up.

Re: Temp gage blinking light

Two possibilities. Your coolant is low as BillC suggested or your gauge is faulty. I'd discount the temp theory.

Re: Temp gage blinking light

Amazing.
I checked the coolant level and it was a tad low... put some in (may be 4oz) and everything went away.
I believe it was boderline and with the temp drop it was enough to indicate the fault.

Good deal. Thanks
