Got -"Sevice in 30 days" light on my car?

I have 2900 miles on my 2008 CS purchased in February 2009. I got the "service in 30 days" light when I start up. I don't remember anything in the manual. Can anyone Help?

Here's a few threads on this very topic - as you can see, it has been discussed quite a bit:

There's probably more, but I didn't want to take the fun away from your own search...

This happened to many of us. I would go for the 1st "new car"oil change and have the service indicator reset. Nothing to worry about just a pain the rear ($$). I think this is a dealer ploy to get you in the service bay sooner than the one year check up!!!

it just a day or two and had the service in 3 days message pop up.

I had selling dealer's tech clear it and I changed oil at 750 miles, 1350 miles, and just passed 2000 miles and will change it soon cause I'm tentatively planning on taking car on week long 4000 mile road trip and want to start the trip with fresh oil/filter.

In your car's case, just change the oil. Frankly, based on what I saw come out of the filter housing I'm glad I changed the oil at 750 miles and should have changed it maybe at 500 miles. Oil was filthy. Knew it would be but still a bit shocked at how filthy.

Sincerely,

Rockster.

Re: Picked up my new '08 CS with under 80 miles on it and drove....

If it's like my car the dealer put the car in service on 6/30/08 and I purchased it on 5/11/09 with 189 miles. The dealer failed to tell me about that little detail and that I would be one year short of warranty even though my sales agreement stated 'New 08 Porsche Cayman S'. We are debating this little issue at the moment.
