Bill for what my opinion is worth you should be able to do this since you won't be taking the level down to the engine and all the radiator plumbing. IE it's all up high so you shouldn't be draining down to where all the air traps are. Keep in mind I haven't done this.
However, don't expect a cup. there will be rather more I suspect. If you look at the attached photo the large hose indicated goes between the actual coolant tank and the filler port at the service door. The little hose above it is the overflow that comes in near the top of the service door. The blue cap indicated by the second arrow is a plain old radiator pressure cap with the coolant tank below it.
I would recommend checking it when cold, which takes quite a while, overnight at least, several times just to make sure. The things seem to use a pint or two even when vacuum filled. I don't think you will but better safe...
And yes I know that I really need to spend some time learning Photoshop, Sigh.
