8 mm hex/Allen wrench (not torx). Best to use a hex socket.

The article is confusing, and caused me a return trip to the hardware store a while back. I got a 10 mm allen and had to return for 8 mm.

I can tell you my 2008 CS uses an 8 mm allen. AFAIK, all Caymans use the 8 mm.

Re: what size

The article is incorrect and should be edited. The hex size is 8 mm. As I mentioned, get a hex socket not an Allen wrench. In addition, I prefer to use proper torque values for tightening the drain plug ( 34 ft/lb or 50 Nm) and the plastic filter housing ( 18.5 ft/lb or 25 Nm), rather than the suggestion in the article to make it "guten-tight." You'll save enough on your 1st DIY oil change to buy the right tools to do the job properly.

I learned long ago that having the right, good quality tools and doing the job correctly pays off.

You are correct - sorry for the mis-speak. (I had a mind blank on the word hex...)
