Re: Някой от България?

Sorry to butt into the thread, but I wanted to ask a quick question. That appears to be Russian (or at least the cyrillic characterset), but does not translate well on most web translators. I suspect that it is not native Russian. What is it?

I was going to say Привет

Re: Някой от България?

Just came up with: "If there are Bulgarians in the forum, this is here" from Google.

I don't know if there are other Bulgarians here or not, but again Welcome!

Добре дошли!

Re: Някой от България?

Yup, this is Bulgarian, but no fellow Bulgarians here, I guess. Font is Cyrillic. I bet you did not know cyrillic script was developed in Bulgaria in the 9th century. Russians adopted it later. I hope my NJ english is understandable

Turns out you can learn about stuff other than porsche on the forum.

Re: Някой от България?

Kak jci!! When I first joined the Air Force, they sent me to a language school at the Presidio of Monterey, CA., to study Bulgarian. Our teacher we called Cheecho. I had never had a language other than German in High School, but I figure they thought a Ukrainian 2d generation could pick it up. I remember little except Xyu. Hooyie and and couple of words that go with it. We were only in class 12 weeks before the Air Force cancelled the class and put a bunch of us in Albanian. A few years ago, I met a lady in a Park here in Tucson and I could hear her speaking quite clearly and it sounded so familiar, but I couldn't get a word. When she told me she was Bulgarian I almost crapped. Pity what almost 40 years will do to proficiency. I still can do German and Czech and get by in Uke and Russian..oh..and Albanian, the mother tongue of Sister Theresa.
