Unexplained eBay Coupon

I checked eBay, and for no apparent reason I was awarded a coupon that expires at midnight tonight 22-Feb-09. The coupon was for 8% off, if you paid with Paypal. Hmmm...perhaps part of the government's economic stimulus package?

I encourage everybody to check their eBay account if they haven't stopped by there in a while.

Mine came in handy:
Coupon Purchase

Cheers,
Chuck

Re: Unexplained eBay Coupon

eBay sends out these coupons several times a year... in the past though they've always been 10% so I thought the fact that they reduced it to 8% was actually a sign of the economy... not all accounts get them and they only work for accounts they are sent to.

Another difference I noticed between past coupons and the 8% one is that now when a coupon is available, you will see it at the top of the page when you sign in. Previously they were just sent a message and to the primary e-mail address.

Re: Unexplained eBay Coupon

I got this email on Sat :

"whatever, 10% off voucher inside to say thank you"

Then this 4 hours later :

"IMPORTANT: CORRECTION TO EMAIL REGARDING 10% OFF VOUCHER"

Dear whatever,

A short while ago, you received an email from eBay which incorrectly contained the following words in the subject line: "10% off voucher inside to say thank you".

The subject line of that email was wrong, and occurred as the result of a technical error. Please note that there is no voucher or discount from eBay.com.au associated with that email or otherwise applicable to you at this time.

eBay sincerely regrets any inconvenience and thanks you for your understanding.

Regards,
The eBay Team

This was the first e-coupon I was ever offered by eBay. They clearly stated that it was non-transferable, but beyond that not much info, no rationale for the reward. I'm a nice guy, so nice things happen to me? Totally random?

For all of the pain and suffering I've endured at the hands of eBay, and PayPal I will regard this as partial re-payment.

Chuck
