Can't believe the deal I just got...

I just traded in my daily commuter. I was ready to pull the trigger on a Tundra when I looked online and noticed how heavily Jeep was discounting cars. I stopped by my local Jeep dealership and pulled the trigger on a 09 Grand Cherokee. $41,000 msrp, loaded v8, final price out the door = $30,150…dirt cheap price plus 0% financing!

With it came nav, bluetooth, hard drive to store 700 songs, flash drive connection, satellite radio, leather, on and on and on. I just can’t believe how much these cars are being sold for. I know Chrysler is destined for chapter 11 but no doubt the Jeep brand will survive (someone will scoop them up for sure). It also makes me feel good about supporting an American car company as well.

Thought I let you guys know just in case you are in the market.

Congrats on your jeep purchase. I had a 95 wrangler & will get another jeep in the future.

I just bought an '08 Miata Grand Touring w/ Prem. Pkg. and suspension pkg., list ~$27.5 for $19,995. I'd been thinking about buying an '06, but I like you I couldn't pass up that kind of opportunity!

Re: Can't believe the deal I just got...

I worked at a Jeep dealership (among other brands) and one thing we often discussed was how loyal jeep customers are... Though I'm sure that was adversely affected by some of the newer Chrysler created models such as the Commander, Patriot and Compass. Wrangler and Cherokee owners are typically very happy with their cars, and I don't see the brand going anywhere... it will definitely be picked up by another company that will hopefully keep its "trail-rated" roots alive.

I agree, great price. My wife wants a Miata really bad, and I was thinking to buy her one for her birthday. With prices like that she'll have the best birthday ever!

Re: Can't believe the deal I just got...

I found a no-option Sport model for $16K brand new, and one w/ the Conv. pkg. for $17K. They're currently running $5K rebates on '08's, and you can generally expect another $2K off on top (selling at invoice - rebate).

The stock suspension leaves a bit to be desired, but they're a great platform to build upon. In fact, a well-prepped NC Miata at my local track is faster than any Cayman there! I got to take it out for a session, and it was the most fun I've ever had in any car. I've got coilovers, wheels/tires, and exhaust in transit to build it somewhat close to that spec.

Re: Can't believe the deal I just got...

I have owned my 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee for approx. a year now and to be honest with you it is a great vehicle. No problems whatsoever and it has a great ride. Some of the interior pieces are cheap and the fit and finish has something to be desired but all in all the vehicle is fantastic. Mine has the 4.7 V8 and it has plenty of power even though I do not tow. Like others have said if Chrysler goes under someone is going to scoop up Jeep....they aren't going to let the brand die.

Re: Can't believe the deal I just got...

My view of Jeep/Chrysler was badly influenced by an identical evaporator core problem that occurred with my wife's '99 Town and Country and my '02 Grand Cherokee. It was a design flaw that occurred routinely under normal use and it was a known problem that caused an expensive repair bill. The T&C had two cores...both went bad, and my Grand Cherokee had one that went bad. We had long been a Chrysler family and at that point I decided they didn't deserve my business. If there is a known design flaw, the company should own up....or at least fix the problem in the next model year. Chrysler did neither.

I won't forget.
