Re: You're doing it wrong!
It has happened before. The first incident in my recollection was a 747 at Frankfurt, Germany making a tight turn out of the gate. Jet engines can really suck. In my Navy carrier experience, I watched a handler get sucked down an F-4 intake and I was 3 planes back from the catapult when a final checker got sucked down an A-6 intake. Both of those airplanes had stationary inlet guide vanes, so the men survived. An incident occurred in my sister A-7 squadron when a kid walked too closely in front and was in the process of getting sucked in when a chief petty officer made a diving grab on his ankles and held on until handlers could get chocks under the wheels and direct the pilot to shut down. It saved the kid's life since the first thing you get to in an A-7 intake is a big rotating fan. Thank God fopr men who are willing to put their own wellbeing on the line to try to save another.
