Lack of discussion on this forum

In my 911, Cayman and Boxster days Planet9 and it's precedent site was and is full of lively chatter. It seems now that I have joined the ranks of the Cayenne owners my frequency of visits to this forum can be downwardly revised.

Is our vehicle so devoid of interest that we have nothing to discuss? Of is it that there are so few of us that frequent this particular site that is the cause of the radio silence?

I know that the Cayman was the catalyst for Planet9s existence, so perhaps I need to spend my mindless time surfing for Cayenne chat on Rennlist.

Thoughts???

+1. Whenever I visit the Cayenne section of the site I always find good stuff as well. It might not be as active as the Cayman/Boxster chat but it does have great info.

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

I think you have to accept that the type of owner that generally (many factors to consider) buys a Cayenne is less likely to participate in forums and probably not be so enthusiastic for the brand as a whole. Let's not forget modding as well, which is less common on the Cayenne compared with the Sports Cars.

So it's only normal to have less traffic over here

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

Dunebasher is correct, most Cayenne-only buyers (as opposed to say a Cayman owner who also buys a Cayenne) don't mod their cars and don't seem to hang out on internet forums. Additionally there are other forums with Cayenne content that have had Cayenne content longer than we have here. If those forums help you then great, make use of them, if you prefer the style and conversations over here then I'd say recruit some other Cayenne owners to join you here and liven up the place!

On the other hand, over on Bimmerfest the X5 forum is very active. Maybe the Cayenne is a lot more exclusive.

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

Ok I checked back a little over a month later and there was a single new post, and it was on a thread I started in October. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, but clearly this forum is not that active, likely for many of the reasons cited around Cayenne owners and lack of track and mod experiences to discuss. I guess it does serve a purpose for potential Cayenne owners as they can go back through the history and research some of the past post. Over a long enough period of time the are bound to come up with something useful I guess.

I have lots of observations gleened form my last couple of months of ownership, and I am sure others have things they like, would improve, etc. Is there any way we can get a more lively dialogue going here?

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

I just bought a Cayenne GTS a few weeks ago to tow the CS. I agree that there lacks discussion here on it but other sites have more active Cayenne discussions than here though.

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

This forum can be quite active and the I agree that the Cayenne section is very helpful. I was considering a Cayenne and found it very useful.

Just remember to stay with the consensus in your opinions or you'll get flamed.

Re: Lack of discussion on this forum

I would be pleased to have more discussion. My Cayenne is simply my "daily driver" (I drove it over 75,000 km in 2011) and my cars are for fun but I do like the forums for sharing repair tips and problems/solutions. So let's pretend we are eggs and "get cracking" with some discussion!
