The GT4 already has a carbon fiber wing! The technical manual at page 83 says it quite clearly:

"The rear wing consists of several parts. These are the wing itself, which is made of carbon, the end plates made of polyurethane and the wing supports made of aluminum."

I have removed the wing, and having experience building super-light bicycles (11lbs total), I can assure you the wing is made of carbon fibers in a composite construction simply due to its weight relative to its size. The fact that it is painted, rather than having a decorative "carbon fiber weave" layer covering the structural CF is unimportant to me. Maybe not to others...

BTW, that's one bad a$$ looking GT4!

K-Man S, I had exactly the same thoughts. I decided that the yellow is shiny and the silver/grey is dull, so my guess is silver/grey wrap over a RY base paint job. These days very few people, even manufacturers, go to the trouble of painting a car all fancy like that. It's just too easy to wrap it. (and errors can be fixed, and the whole thing can be removed.)
PS, I was surprised to see a number of 918s out at Rennsport that were wrapped. Very well, by the way...

Actually, now that I look at those videos, I'd say the car is white, and the yellow is also wrap...

BTW, that first video in post #8 is simply a 19 minute compilation of the still photos to some electronic music.

Some specs on the Cayman GT4 Clubsport according to Porsche:

-Single-seater racing car (fittings for installation of a 2nd seat in place)
-the body is a weight-optimized lightweight body in aluminum steel hybrid construction based on the Cayman GT4
-power output is the same as the GT4 (283 kW/385 hp), max. torque is 420Nm
-PDK transmission with optimized shift application
-racing-specific differential with mechanical rear differential lock
-front axle: lightweight spring strut axle with wishbone and tie rod from the 911 GT3 Cup
-rear axle: lightweight spring strut axle from the Cayman GT4 with modified wishbone from the 911 GT3 Cup
-front brakes: racing specific hydraulic 2-circuit system. Rotor diameter is 380mm, with 6-piston monobloc fixed calipers
-rear brakes: racing specific hydraulic 2-circuit system. Rotor diameter is 380mm, with 4-piston monobloc fixed calipers
-weight is 1,300 kg or 2,866 lbs

No, its a race car, not a production car. I have not read the specifications for the race car but I'll guess:

1. PDK cost ~$14K if you bought the parts but probably more in this case as a bespoke version for this car.
2. Parts package. I think I was told $30K in parts
3. If its anything like the Cup Car, the GT3 and Cup Car suspensions and brakes are different. Cup car uses slotted rotors, not cross drilled. Suspensions are different.
4. Its a lot lighter and wheels are smaller? Less weight cost more.

It was confirmed over on Rennlist by a person attending the event that the car is white and all the graphics are a wrap. Looks pretty fancy to me!
Also the wing is the standard (!) GT4 wing with real CF appearance layer and attached gurney flap (in CF, attached to the underside of the rear of the wing with what appears to be double sided tape.)

You know tonester was there in person right? He took the photos you see in our gallery and answered some questions above, I'm guessing he guessed that it was a yellow car since the silver was obviously a wrap, but since these get built in all white then you can expect the car is an all white car from the factory, although that doesn't mean Porsche didn't paint this one and apply a wrap or as mentioned could be two different color wraps. Hopefully someone there wasn't trying to peel it off or something :hilarious: I wish tonester could have gotten more pics but he had to cover some other cars as well, I'm appreciative of him covering what he could for us and giving us the first images that he did. Surely in coming days there will be more and more info available as cars are ordered, delivered, etc. The letters went out to race teams over a month ago about the car but they weren't allowed to talk about the contents of the letter, I'm assuming you'll see teams starting to talk more in the coming days about their plans for next year.

I just added a few more pics of the GT4 CS I took today. I'm 99% certain this is a yellow car with the silver wrap. It doesn't make sense for Porsche to paint the car white and then wrap it with 2 different color wraps. After all, the CS model is all about weight savings right?

if you happen to be lucky enough to get chosen for the GT4 Cup Car (there will be a lottery)....you must race it and should you want to sell it in the future you must give porsche first dibs to buy it back (in the contract they will make you sign).

That said, it is a fine looking machine.

I attended the special Porsche event at the L A Auto Show at 7:30 AM. (for me it is a 'must attend event) The new 991.1 Carrera's were beautiful. It appeared to me that Porsche has cleaned up the dash as it was less cluttered. The vertical air intake ducts at the rear flowed along the lines of the car better.
I'm still a Cayman person but the new Carrera's were certainly eye candy.
