http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/calendarnews.png Remember when we used to do annual calendars of members cars? Well thanks to a recommendation from the Jaguar club we've uncovered a new printing source for very high quality calendars AND holiday cards. According to our printing source they can turn around calendars before Xmas if photos are sent to them by Dec 11th. That's the end of this week! In addition they can also make holiday cards that you can use to send out to friends and family this year, or if you have already sent out cards this year save them until next year. So, in order to try and get enough high quality photos to make a good calendar I'm asking everyone who is interested to upload their best photo of their Porsche or their best photo of their Porsche and themselves if they want to be in the photo too.
Please make sure these are high resolution high quality photos, the better the photo quality the better the printing, any photos that are too small or too low of resolution will get rejected.
Any questions let me know! Time is VERY SHORT so please don't delay!
Your upload limit looks like it is 5MB, which is too small for really high-quality photos suitable for print. Any chance you can up the limit on this gallery or is there another way to send large files to you?
I can but as an fyi 5mb photos have printed fine before as the resolution is high enouhh, but I will see if I can up it to 8 or 10 later today. There is a limit allowed by our hosting company but I don't remember what it is...
I still need to work out the details of which pictures with the printer. What I've been told by the printer is that individuals will be able to go to their site and order calendars and cards. What I don't know is whether or not you'd be able to select the images you want for your calendar on the fly or if you have to choose a fixed set of pics, in other words all calendars would be the same. As for cards I'm hoping everyone can choose their own car for their own cards, but as I said, a few more details to work out. Will keep you posted as I know more and things firm up, until then keep the pics coming!
I asked people to upload 1, at most 2, those who uploaded more are risking disqualification for doing so. We are under a time crunch I'm sure everyone will receive consideration but those who upload more than 2 will have their consideration spread out among more options which probably weakens their chances.
Good news, I talked to the printer last night and he said that if we supply more than a dozen images then YES each person can pick and choose which images they want for their calendar! So everyone will be creating their own personal members calendar among the finalist photos that are chosen. The more quality photos we get, the more we are likely to include in the final set (I'll probably shoot for 24 so that in theory everyone could make 2 completely different calendars and never duplicate an image if they wanted to)
Ok the images have been selected and 32 images were sent to the publisher today and as soon as I have verification of receipt and that they are in their system available for order I will update everyone on the URL so they can be ordered ASAP!
Thanks to all who submitted! A few notes, there were a couple of images not selected because the resolution was simply too small for a quality image at calendar size, also we were going to cut it off at 24 images but were able to get 8 more in for a total of 32. Remember these can be used for Calendars AND Holiday Cards on the vendors site.
You'll have to wait until the URL goes live, which hopefully is very soon as I tested the latest version this morning and only found a couple of minor issues for the vendor to fix. What surprised me though was that in addition to having a gallery of member images to choose from when assembling your calendar there was another choice to upload your own photo during calendar creation time. I've asked if that is going to be "live" and working in which case even members who weren't chosen could still create a calendar with their own image somewhere in the calendar, they just won't be shown in the gallery of available images to choose from. If that feature is active for us then technically you could upload 12 images of your own car and create your own calendar all about you, or say 6 images of your cat and 6 images of your dog, or whatever...
Maybe we can figure out how to 'share' an unofficial calendar that just happens to same pictures for everybody.
If somebody thinks they build a good calendar is willing to share the links/picture numbers that they used for each month. I think that would do the trick.
Trying to build a calendar - noticed a few things - Starting from Feb, the picture will not fill the all top half. There would be blue ribbon left on top, and white on the bottom (that one is difficult to notice because it blends will lower half). Can other people confirm?
Also some of the cool pictures like car in front of museum are chopped rithght to the wheels rims. So I'm downloading them from gallery and building my own calendar right now!
Talking about blue ribbon on top of image and white ribbon below. Pretty sure all pages should be there like in January. Where the pic goes to the top of the page, and to the middle. I somehow doubt that they'll reformat it before printing. Just worrying if calendars will show up just like this... With those online design services it's usually WYCIWYG
