http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/caymanclubbeach.jpg After much consideration we have decided to re-ignite the "Cayman Club" from days past. For those who don't recall, this site was originally known as CaymanClub.Net and later morphed into Planet-9.com. For some time we've considered ways in which to bring some of the focus back to various activities that used to happen during the old Cayman Club days. What we've decided to do is form an actual car club. In fact we will be filing for 501(c)(7) status for the club to be a non-profit just like PCA or any other similar car club. The Cayman Club will also be entirely separate from Planet-9.com which means no advertiser support which in turn means we need YOUR support and donations to get the "Club" off the ground. Donate Here! If you donate before Jan 1st you may be able to deduct your donation from your 2015 taxes!

The Cayman Club will be focused on a variety of items including:

  • Social Events such as cars and coffee style gatherings
  • Track Events where members can meet and assist each other with track support
  • Online events such as broadcast tech sessions or Forza 6 races
  • Regional Officers / Experts
  • Newsletter (potentially both print and electronic tbd)
  • Members helping Members
  • Anything else our members can think of!

By no means is the new club a replacement for Planet-9.com, in fact the club website won't be an automotive forum centric website like this one but rather an informational gateway to club activities, an enabler for club. If you'd like to become an inaugural member of the Cayman Club then simply Donate at the link above and your account here will receive a special Cayman badge
next to your name and when Cayman Club activities kick off you will already be a member! If you are interested in becoming an active officer in the club please let me know via PM or Email and I will follow up.

BTW Up front I want to state that the Cayman Club is in no way meant to exclude our Boxster or other Porsche owners but simply a realization that if we are going to start a club we need to specialize first in order to be successful. Later, if resources permit, we could always form a Boxster Club as well. We don't want to bite off more than we can chew, but we aren't going to exclude people from joining if they don't own a Cayman, even non-owners can join the club if they are interested!

Done. I would encourage others who haven't donated to the Cayman Club or Planet-9 to do so as this website is an invaluable resource that is "open source" and available to Porsche owners all around the world.

Ken - I think you'll find that although you may get the CC approved as a 501(c)(7) entity (like PCA), it won't be eligible for 501(c)(3) status and donations won't be tax deductible.

I'm in.

Great idea to have a session at Limerock. I did the 3 day Skip Barber racing school there last spring in their formula style car, I'd love to go back with my Cayman and share the track with other Caymans.

Because on the page to donate you didn't choose the top "correct" selection for donating to get Cayman Club Founder listing to get that cool badge. I see you selected some regular donation via Authorize.net so the system worked as it was supposed to and did not grant you the badge because the proper selection wasn't made. That being said, I can go ahead and add you manually, but if someone else does this and doesn't draw my attention to it then they likely won't receive the badge. HTH!

^^^^^^^^ Upon further review of every transaction today through Authorize.net (as opposed to PayPal) it seems they all worked and set up the subscription and awarded the badge correctly except yours for some reason. I went through the logs and the generated receipts manually and could not determine why so as mentioned above I awarded manually. My only guess is that something timed out before it was finished on the back end. My point above about selecting the proper item from the drop down list is still valid, but it appears from the log that you did so, thus I apologize and retract my prior admonishment for not doing so. :)

Hi Ken
I just signed up for CC 2016 as well! I think it's great to resurrect the name! I was just talking about the old site name with a friend of mine the other day and how I stumbled in here right after I bought my brand new 2006 Cayman S. With my 4th Cayman now on order, I'm excited about the idea of a car club and more gatherings to meet with other enthusiasts!
