It's HIP to be Clear!
I Can See Clearly Now... We have completed our installation and review of the latest clear engine cover on the market from HIP Design. This cover uses a unique approach to presenting the Cayman's engine for the world to see while maintaining high standards for product fit and finish. Our review covers the very easy installation of the transparent engine cover and then examines various questions that our members had about sounds, weight, heat, dirt & more!
Check out the Article here: HIP Design - Transparent Engine Cover
Don't miss our next article where we compare the HIP Design cover to existing covers already on the market!

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!
Very nice article, on some very nice products.
Depending on the look, functionality and cost you are after, this makes the decision easier.
My only question;
Could the removal of the stock original cover cause any loss of structural rigidity to the car with any with these choices?
Did you run an AX or a DE session with these in place?
I know, it's a bit extreme and reckless to leave it in place for such an event.
But I still ask the question.
All the best.

No effect on structural rigidity and I've run DE's with clear covers on before, it's no big deal, as long as everything is fastened down tightly there shouldn't be any difference from stock.

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!
It's a nice design, one of the nicest I've seen but it just might be me....I don't think the engine warrants a clear cover....the F430 I can see....I like things a bit more symmetrical

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!
IMO the HIP look is the best, but it is a bit odd that they didn't follow the underlying sheet metal contour with their black out. It's particularly evident on the sides with the yellow showing more than would appear necessary.

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!
Probably a stupid question, but I assume you did the red engine covers yourself?
I've never seen my Cayman engine to know what it looks like, but I can't imagine those are standard...

Not standard - done by the individual owner or farmed out to someone else to do.

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!

Re: It's HIP to be Clear!
How is the engine sound compared to stock as well as heat inside the cabin?
