Just was at the car wash in an Audi A4 loaner car. This exercize was pretty fruitless as it's snowing now and I had to drive about 50 miles in suburban traffic today. So much for doing my dealer a good deed.
Anyway, at the car wash, they had a Car and Driver. There was some good Porsche scoop in there. Porsche is considering several new cars:
A two door Panamera, which actually makes a little more sense than the sedan in my book.
A "lightweight Boxster" with a turbo 4. Looked very tasty. Think upmarket Miata.
My A4 loaner has the 2.0 liter TT Audi engine and the poke from this little thing is impressive. The new A4 is not the lightest car in the world and this car had plenty of mid rev power to squirt through traffic with a 6 speed auto. Not a Cayman class fun, but lots of fun for a 4 passenger car with trunk and flip down back seat. If the Porsche version of this motor is as good, we'll have some fun with this car.
A smaller Cayenne type vehicle called the "Roxster" at the moment. This thing looked very cool and would probably be a lot of fun to own. It's about X3 sized, but sportier.
C&D thought the VW corporate wanks were hoping to get volume soaring at Porsche by offering more models. Don't now how many of these cars will actually be produced and offered to the public, but there were photos in the article. We shall see.
